As I wrote about last week, I told you that I got a new hair cut and it was different well not only was it different but it is really easy to maintain. All that I have to do now is blow dry it and it looks great! Where as before I would dry it, then straighten which was just so frustrating because it would take at least 30 minutes to do my hair. now its about 10 to 15 minutes! I love it! I have always had this really ugly curl in my hair right about at my shoulders. I always thought that it looked so ugly which was why I would straighten my hair all the time.

A few summers ago I was at a church camp and of course if you have ever been camping before, every girl is also in the bathroom doing there hair and make-up all at the same time. I was straightening my hair when this girl, Madlen, told me I should embrace that curl and work with it not against it! She had amazing curly/wavy hair, and always look amazing. At the time I was like yea I probably should but I didn't really know how. I think that I just now actually figured out how to embrace this curl. Since I got my hair cut its at just the right length for that once ugly curl to be beautiful! My hair curls out perfectly and looks really good. Of course this did take me a while to figure out how to do this but I think that you could do it right now!

You can't be afraid to let your hair do what it wants to, and to try new things! I hope that you will try a new style embrace your hair as it is!

Should guys pluck theire eyebrows?

I have an issue with eyebrows on men. Last week I got my eyebrows waxed because they were so bushy that I was mistaken for a plant! Ok not really but you know what I mean. Then later I was at my friend, Keith's apartment, and he asked "Why the heck are you eyebrows so red?!" I told him I got them waxed because I hate to pluck! We continued to talk about plucking and then of course we got on the subject of men plucking. I noticed Keith's eyebrows weren't too bad especially for a guy, but he did have some stragglers. I asked him how he felt about guys plucking and he said "well ya I do it but I hate it, but I don't want them to look like a girls eyebrows" He said he hates to do it though so he hadn't done it in awhile. That's when he asked me if I would pluck them for him! I couldn't believe he asked me to do that! Actually I can't believe that he wanted me to pluck his eyebrows! Let alone trust me to pluck them!

So I plucked his eyebrows of course I made sure that they didn't look like a girl at all, yet still look descent. He liked his eyebrows when I was done, yet he was pretty squirmy while I was plucking and I told him he had to sit still and man-up!

So I did some research on what others think about guys plucking there eyebrows. This is what I found, Most say that men should pluck there eyebrows, mostly just to make sure that they don't have a unibrow (which is so unattractive). Although some disagree but I found that most agree that it is very unattractive for men to have bushy brows and unibrow. So get out those tweezers boys!

So today we had a first snow. I thought it was going to be terribly windy out so I layered up with my long johns underneath. But when I got to campus it wasn’t too bad. But I have to say that I was pretty toasty all day long with my long johns.

Mine are plain gray, kind of boring I know. I was looking at some at JCPenney a while ago and found some cute ones that had pink flowers on them and another pair that was called cotton pointelle (pictured above). They have the flowers sort of cut out of the material. They are about $22 each, pants and top.

Since we are on the subject, I also found really cute pajamas there. My favorite was a long sleeve night shirt that came with matching underwear. I think they were about $25, but I couldn’t find them online. I also found pajamas with footies in them! I want a pair of those. It would make me feel like a kid again! They were only $17!

They also had really cute robes that were supersoft! They are about $25, but I couldn’t find the styles that I saw in the store online. So add some of these to your wish list and get comfy!

Time for a New Hair Cut!

Yesterday I decided that it was definitely time to get hair cut. Sometimes I am a little bit crazy about my hair being healthy. Yet since this semester has been pretty crazy I haven't had it cut since JULY!! Yeks! So it was definitely time for a cut. I was just going to get a normal cut nothing different at all. I went to the Hairman (on the levee in West Lafayette). I have been there so many times and they always do a great job on my hair.

So I got there she washed my hair. As she was washing my hair I told her it had been awhile since I had it cut so she was aware that I had quite a few split ends. After she washed my hair and combed it she put this gel stuff on it to help my ends. Its called 'Sealed Ends' I know that you can buy it, because my sister, Mariah, has some. It kinda smells gross but it works really well. The point of it is to keep the ends of you hair sealed (hint the name) so that your split ends don't get any worse.

Then she started cutting and it was all good. She cut about 1/2 inch off then she got to my side swooping bangs and asked how short I wanted them and all. I had them cut a little shorter but long enough to still be able to put them behind my ears. And thats when I was said, "Ya know why don't we just a few layers in my hair and make it different" The picture above is kinda what my hair looks like only more of a side part and more bangs. And blonde of course!

It was time for something new and different. Its not extremely different but it is different than what I had before. I like it. Sometimes its just time for a change. So I hope that you will just change it up a little and see what you come up with.

Get help choosing the right outfit

So I know that all of us that attend Purdue University have definitely noticed that winter is well on its way. With pretty cold temperatures, a few rainy days, and wind that goes right through you no one looks forward to trekking the ten or fifteen minutes to class. Thankfully this semester is almost over, but then we have next semester and the snow to look forward to. Take a look at last year's conditions (picture above), and I know you'll be thrilled! I don’t know about you guys, but when I hear that it is going to be 50 degrees, I think warm. That was supposed to be the temperature the other day, but it felt so much colder than that. I am terrible at figuring out what to wear so that I will be comfortable. Fortunately the other day on College Fashion I read a review on Cumul.us -a website where not only can you find the weather for that day but also an idea of what to wear! Just pop in your zip code and the weather and an idea of what to wear comes up in seconds. If you register, which I did, then you can submit what you are wearing that day and make your own predictions of the weather.

Today it suggested wearing a winter coat on top, pants on bottom, and sunglasses as an accessory. I think that a scarf and gloves need to be added as accessories, because it is pretty nippy out today. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Black Friday

So this past Friday was Black Friday. And I decided to go. For the first time. Ever.

My sister and I decided to pull an all-nighter Thursday night, which was probably not the smartest idea, but I went strong all day long until about 10:30 PM Friday night. Then I was dead.

The first place we hit was Kohl’s at about 4 AM. We decided that the lines were too long at about 4:20 and put down our stuff and went to Wal-mart. While she waited in line in the electronics department, I ran around the store getting other items and bringing them back to her. Then we were off to Target, and then back to Kohl’s, where the stuff we had put down was still in the same place.

Most of the time I was just tagging along, because she was doing most of the shopping and I was there to keep her company. But I got a few things, like a super-soft blanket, a printer ($34), and a gift for my mom and nephew. I still don’t think that waiting in the lines was worth getting a $35 blanket for $8. Did any of you go shopping? Get any good deals? I guess if I wouldn’t have gone I wouldn’t have gotten a new phone and met a new guy! (Cute guys work at Best Buy :)

Too Many Accessories

As you know this week is thanksgiving, and I am at home instead of at college. I left on Tuesday and won’t be back to school until Sunday, so I had to do a lot of packing to come home. Like most college students I had a ton of laundry to do making it hard to pack clothes because most of them were dirty. I decided that I would just put all of my dirty clothes in the laundry basket and just take that home. I thought it was a great idea, until I finished packing realizing that I didn’t know what clothes I had in my laundry basket so therefore I didn’t know what shoes, earrings and head bands to pack that would match the clothes I had.

I am just in love with all of my earrings and all of my shoes! I have so many that I have certain earrings for a specific outfit as well as shoes. You know how you have that adorable red shirt and then you don’t have any earrings to go with it. So next time you are at Claire’s you see the most adorable red earrings that would go great with you new shirt! I have a pair of big hoop earrings in just about ever color. Then the shoes I have a pair of flats in just about every color too along with my wonderful heels like I spoke about in my last post.

So back to my dilemma with what shoes and earrings I should pack for thanksgiving break. I decided to pack most of the basics that should cover pretty much everything. Like white, black, and of course pink (I have A LOT of pink!)

It is now Friday and I haven’t had a problem, between all of my clothes and the bag full of shoes, earrings and head bands I have managed to always find something that matches. I guess when it comes right down too it I really don’t need all of those earrings, shoes and head bands, I could make it with just the basic colors. At least when I go away for a few days I can manage. Hehe! I love my earrings, shoes and head bands way too much.

Red Dress

So I went to Chicago yesterday and did a little shopping. I found a cute dress to wear to my cousin’s wedding that I am attending in January. It’s a red satin dress from Forever 21 similar to the one above, but shorter. It ends about two inches above my knee. It only cost me $23! I am still deciding what I should wear over it, since it is going to be cold, and whether or not I am going to wear black or gold accessories. So if you have any suggestions, let me know!

Conspiracy Theory

Every woman knows that after a long day of wearing high heals you are ready to get out of those things, prop your feet up and have a nice long foot massage. Yet, it is funny how when you first put them on you thought to yourself how great your ass looked and that they completed your outfit. We all know that any and all pain for about, oh say, the first three hours is totally ignored but by the end of the day you never want to put a high heel on again. The next day rolls around, and you are walking through the mall in your flip flops or fashionable flats and you stumble across a huge shoe sale. Your eyes are immediately drawn toward those three inch-strapy-sexy-black heels with the cute polka dots. Of course you shouldn't buy them, however, they are forty percent off, super cute, incredibly irresistible, and in the last five minutes of staring at them you have fallen completely in love and can't imagine your closet with out them. In the end you will purchase them, wear them once get a blister, or five, and throw them in the back of your closet with the other incredibly sexy shoes that cause you more pain than pleasure. The cycle never ends and as much as we complain we will never cease to buy yet another pair of devilishly alluring heels.

Though our gender has come to terms with these so called "rules" of the road when it comes to heels, I believe there is a large conspiracy at hand.

Really, what woman in the world would have come up with the idea of putting our shoes on a two–five inch stick to increase our height at the cost of any and all comfort?

None.

My thoughts exactly!

I think that men came up with this fashion item to hinder women from being able to escape them when they have done something stupid. Every woman knows it is extremely hard if not impossible to run away in heels, we are also aware of the fact that trying to run away in heels makes us look absolutely ridiculous, and no woman wants to purposely look ridiculous, this is why we check ourselves out in the mirror approximately six times on average before leaving the house. Or at least I do.

Men are clearly responsible.

However, I know that personally I couldn't live without my closet full of heels. They make me feel like a true woman; gorgeous, confident, completely in charge and on top of the world. I can be going out with my girls to grab smoothie, going to a club for a night on the dance floor, or going into the office to do my job, and a fabulous pair of heels make me feel almost invincible.

When I was a little girl I used to sneak into my mother’s closet and pick out a pair of heel for the day. I would put them on and follow them with a large amount of clothing because every little girl knows that the more grown-up items you have one the more you think you can pass for an actual adult, even in your small stature. My mother would of course shake her head laugh give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and tell me to put it all back where I found it. I’d always do as she asked but take my time, putting the heels back. I’d imagine what my own closet would look like when I was an adult and I think I have it even better than I could have ever imagined.

I guess men did at least one good thing right, inventing these fabulous fashion items.

Do you Smell Something?

Mary Kay Inc has awesome line of men's products now. My favorite is the cologne. It smells really great! My ex-boyfriend wore Tommy Hilfiger and I loved it.

I had always wondered how expensive cologne, but then I saw how much the MK High Intensity Cologne. So I looked up the Tommy cologne and its also pretty expensive but its actually more than Mary Kay Inc cologne.

MK High Intensity is a 2.5 fl. oz. is $38 but the Tommy Hilfiger Cologne is 1.7 fl. oz. and it costs $37. Many people say that Mary Kay is really expensive but this proves that its actually cheaper than this name brand cologne.

The holidays are coming up and we have a really great mens gift set shown above that includes the MK High Intensity Cologne, Body and Hair Shampoo, and Cooling After-Shaving Gel. It also comes with this bag making it easy for you to wrap, because you don't even have to! Haha! Grag something for the special someone in your life.

Under my umbrella ella ella eh

So if you read my previous post, you all know that my umbrella I got from Wal-mart for $5 is now a good-for-nothing victim of the wind. So I decided to take a look on-line for some good umbrellas. I found a cute Purdue umbrella for $35. It seems as though it would be worth it, though. It has a 62 inch diameter and is constructed to be wind resistant, which is key as I have learned the hard way. If you don’t want to buy it yourself, ask for it for Christmas! You know it will be rainy in the spring…

I also found these cute umbrellas on umbrellas.com and umbrellastand.com. These two sites had very similar selections with about the same prices (from $20 to $60 but averaging about $28). However umbrellas.com sometimes had two versions of the same umbrella, the traditional stick ones that wouldn’t fit in your bag and then a compact style also. This was a nice option in case you want your umbrella to fit in your bag. However, I feel that these ones typically seem to be weaker than the traditional stick styles.

These two sites had a wide selection, from sport team umbrellas to I Love Lucy and Betty Boop. Others were definitely a work of art, including works of Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci and Georges Seurat. There were ones that had the design underneath, so you could see it as you were walking, and a two person umbrella. I thought these were quite unique. So take a look and tell me what you think!

Jump in those puddles..in your new rain boots

In my last post, I described my rainy day experience. If you recall, it wasn’t too pleasant. I had wet jeans up to my knees, and a broken umbrella that was good for nothing. So today I looked for new items that could prepare me for the next rainy day that rolls around. My first item: rain boots.

I found a couple different of pairs that I liked, with prices varying from $20 to around $60. Because I am in college, I’m definitely leaning towards the $20 pair (picture on left). I found them online at Target. They have a big variety that can be found here. The reviews were quite positive, although didn’t say much about the waterproof quality, which is what I care most about. The only issues that the consumers had were possible peeling of the coating, sizes were a little big, and the colors weren’t as bright as they were online. Other than that, they all gave at least four out of five stars and would recommend them to anyone.

The most expensive pair that I found were those in the picture on the right. They were $56 and were by Kamik. Their website said specifically that these boots were waterproof, whereas waterproof was not specified on the boots at Target. They supposedly have a special sole that maximizes traction, also, and technology that allows for prevention of odor inside the shoe.

Although the Kamik boots may be of better quality, as long as the Target boots don’t leak, I think I will stick with the cheaper pair. If you know of any better ones or have any comments about these, let me know! Next up: Umbrellas!

Pimple problem?

I have been using Mary Kay products for about 4 months now and it has made a huge difference for me. I have used pretty much every product in Walmart to try to make this acne go away but nothing ever seemed to work for me! My sister ended up having a Mary Kay Party for her wedding, thats when Mary Kay products came into my life. Now my face is so much clearer. It has made me more confident and I don't have to worry about my face breaking out so much. I can worry about other things more, like the huge test I have coming.

But every once in awhile a pimple will pop out with no warning, but Mary Kay Inc has a really great product called Acne Gel all you do is you just put it on your pimple over night and POOF it's gone in the morning.

I know what you are thinking though, 'This girl sells Mary Kay and of course she is going to say it will go away over night' But really I am speaking from personal expericence it really does work! And its really cheap and will last for a really long time! This amazing product is only $7.00, since you only use just a dab for each pimple it will last a very long time, I'm talking years!

This even works great for even the men! It does have a pink lid on the top but other than that the bottle is pretty manly. We do have other men's products but that will have to be for another post.

Rain Rain Go Away!

So it rained yesterday. And I totally did not see it coming at all. It was sunny most of the day and then 3 PM rolls around and I am stuck walking out in the pouring down rain. Now usually I don't mind getting wet if I don't have to be stuck in wet clothes for a long time, but of course this was the day that I would be stuck in them for the rest of the night.

Not only was I going to be stuck in wet clothes, I chose the worst clothes to wear. First, I thought it was going to be cold, so I layered up a long sleeve shirt under a turtleneck and then a fleece over that, which of course didn't have a hood. I was sweating most of the morning but was too lazy to take off a layer for good. Then I was wearing black flats that were mainly cloth. As it began to rain, my shoes decided to soak up the water and now I had wet, cold feet. Then I didn't think to roll up my pants, so by 7PM they were basically wet up to the knee.

The last straw came when I attempted using my umbrella. I hate dealing with them, but I didn't have a hood to shield the rain. As I opened it, I realized that it was broken. It wouldn't open fully, so I felt like a retard carrying it around. Then as I was walking later that night, the wind picked up and I pulled a Mary Poppins. My umbrella was completely inside out, but I forced it back to normal. Then one side of it was flopping down because of the broken metal piece. Remind me not to get a $5 umbrella again at Walmart....

So I discovered yesterday that I should be more prepared for the weather. I think I might need a new umbrella and perhaps a pair of those colorful rainboots.....

Eclectic Dresses

So I'm searching on the Anthropologie website when I noticed that a majority of their dresses are very bright and full of color. Now don't get me wrong, some of these dresses are adorable but there are some where I just don't see myself wearing. I probably also see myself making of of other people wearing these dresses. But to be honest, there are some people that can pull off these dresses.
For example, the Elephant March Dress and the Whipping Gale Sweater Dress are just not me. Although if it were me, I totally see someone pulling these dresses off with bright bangles and bright shoes. But that's just no my style. My style is more of Caspian Twilight Dress. I just love the color and I love the embellishment in the midline. Sort of reminds me of my other 2 blogs on blue and embellished dresses. They just go hand in hand with eachother.
Anthropologie has some great clothes, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to the dresses, I just don't udnerstand how I can wear these. So guys, help me out here. What dresses do you think work and what don't? I love dresses and I just want to know what dresses you guys would work and what won't. I want all of you fashion savvy people out there to give me your input and tell me from right and wrong (haha). And hey, if you are one of those girls that goes for those "eclectic dresses", then can you please let me know how you are able to pull of those looks because these dresses do have style in them if worn properly.

Tips for Apply Eye Color

Are you having trouble to get your make-up to look right? Or maybe you have no idea where to even begin? Well I have a lot of really great tips for you! I last night I had my very first MARYKAY Inc. skin care class! I was pretty nervous before the class, since it was my first but it was really fun. Even though its called a ‘skin care class’ we also work with make-up too, because well because make-up is just so much fun to play with.

For the eyes, the most important tip is to blend, blend, blend! Your eye colors should blend smoothly together without looking like you have streaks of color, that just makes you look like a clown. I have found that it is much easier to blend your colors by using a brush instead of the sponge.

To create a beautiful look for eyes is to identify their shape, so you can customize how to apply highlighter, midtone, and accent colors. For example, darker shades add depth while lighter shades create lift. Here are the five different eye shapes:

Standard- eyes are set about one eye width apart
Close-set-eyes are less than one eye width apart
Wide-set-eyes more than one eye length apart
Deep-set-when brow bone appears more noticeable
Hooded –eyes are set so natural crease in the eyelid is not readily seen

But what if I can’t decide which one is my eye shape? Don’t worry! The standard application looks great on everyone. But if you would really like to know which eye shape you are you are welcome to go to my website and schedule a facial consultation with me and I will help you decide your eye shape.

Here are the applications for each eye shape:

Standard

1. Highlighter shade: Apply on brow bone, lid and along inner third of lower lashes.

2. Midtone shade: Apply in crease starting at the outer corner and blend.

3. Accent shade: Apply and blend along top lashline and inot outside halfof crease. Apply along lower lashline.

4. Eyeliner: Glide on along upper and (if desired) lower lashline. Soften with eyeliner/eyebrow brush, if desire.

5. Mascara: Apply to upper and (if desired) lower lashes.

Close-Set

1. Highlighter shade: Apply to brow bone and lid. Apply the hightligther shade to the inside corners of the eye to help the eyes appear farther apart.

2. Midtone shade: Starting at the outer corner of the crease, bring the color toward the inside corner to the brow but not all the way over to the nose.

3. Accent shade: Sweep it across the base of the upper lashline and up inot the outer area of the crease. Sweep it underneath the lower lashline for definition except for the inside corners.

4. Eyeliner: Glide on upper lashline and along the lower lashline form the mid-iris to slightly past the outer corner. Soften with the eyeliner/eyebrow brush, if desired.

5. Mascara: Apply on upper and (if desired) lower lashes, adding an extra coat or two to the outer top lashes.

Wide-Set

1. Highligher shade: Apply to brow bone

2. Midtone shade: Starting from the outer corner of the crease, bring the color toward the inside of the eye. Deepen the color on the inside cornerns and lid to help the eyes appear closer together.

3. Accent shade: Starting slightly in from the outer corner, brush color across the upper lashline and into the crease of the eye. Also sweep it underneath the lower lashline, being careful not to extend it beyond the outer edge of the eye.

4. Eyeliner: Glide a thin, soft stroke on upper and lower lashline just to the outer edge of the eye. Soften with eyeliner/eyebrow brush, if desired.

5. Mascara: Sweep evenly onto upper and (if desired) lower lashes.

Deep-Set

1. Highligher shade: Apply to the eyelid and along the inner corner of lower lashes and to brow bone.

2. Midtone shade: Bring the color up above the crease and sweep it across the brow bone.

3. Accent shade: Apply to the outer corner of the upper lashline, then up onto the corner of the brow bone. Sweep the accent shade underneath the lower lashline for definition.

4. Eyeliner: Glide a thin line along upper and lower lashline, thickening the line slightly on outer two-thirds of lid. Soften with the eyeliner/eyebrow brush, if desired.

5. Mascara: Apply to upper and lower lashes.

Hooded

1. Highligher shade: apply to brow bone and laong the upper lashline and inner corner of lower lashes.

2. Midtone shade: Apply color from the base of the upper lahsline and over the entire hooded area to help the lid appear to recde. Blend

3. Accent shade: Apply from the base of the lashline and over the entire hooded area to help it appear to recede and blend. Sweep the accent color underneath the lower lashes to define. Hooded eyes really benefits from well-defined lashlines-upper and lower.

4. Eyeliner: Glide onto upper lashline and along lower lashline from the outside corner to inside edge of the iris. Soften with the eyeliner/eyebrow brush, if desired.

5. Mascara: Apply to upper and (if desired) lower lashes.

I hope that these tips will help you when apply color to make your eyes look simply gorgeous.

My Pros and Cons

Okay so I haven’t really continued my search on tattoos or piercings lately like I said I would in my old post. I have put it off until now, maybe that is a sign that I truly don’t want one? I don’t know but I was just looking at an article in Wikipedia and definitely got grossed out. So far here are my thoughts:

Warm up!

Hey guys! So the temperature is deffinately dropping...meaning, winter is just around the corner. Winter kind of excites me because then that means time for a new closet. I think winter essentials are as follows: a cute coat (obviously), a soft sweater/cozy cardigan, some neat knits, and maybe even a hot hat. All of these combined can go great with eachother and keep you warm. Lately, I've really been feeling the cardigan look. It looks super cute with some skinnies and flats, or maybe even boots. O, and don't forget to top it off with a hat.

As I'm deciding what to put into my winter closet I found that Abercrombie & Fitch has some of the greatest peices to choose from. Best of all, you can mix any of the pieces together and it will look great. Another plus, is that this same thing works for all you boys out there (just incase you guys were feeling left out.

So everyone, stay warm out there and look good doing it. I don't want any of you guys getting sick at these dropping temperatures!

My Lip Gloss is Poppin

So I have a lip gloss fetish. And most other girls that I know do, too. It doesn’t always have to be lip gloss, but my lips always need to be moisturized, especially in this colder weather. But since this weekend I have not been able to find my favorite lip gloss and I have been going crazy without it! It’s C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine from Bath & Body Works and I have never found such a perfect lip gloss as this one! It is minty flavored, so not only does it taste good, but it freshens you breath, too! You can get a clear or slightly tinted gloss along with different flavors. My favorites are the mentha and spearmint flavors. And most importantly it keeps my lips moisturized without the sticky feeling…I know you know what I’m talking about! It’s usually about $7.50 but right now they are having a sale! Two for $10!! So go stock up, it’s definitely worth it!

So I tried one of my other lip glosses today and hated it! It became sticky on my lips and definitely did not keep them moisturized like my favorite one does. So I added it to my stash of lip gloss that I never use…because I don’t care for them. If only I had known this before I spent money on all of these glosses!

I actually found out about this lip gloss after I used someone else’s. I know some of you don’t like sharing but I’m glad I did. Within a few days I had my own tube. Now all of my friends and a lot of other people I know have their own tube. Everyone that tries mine instantly falls in love. If you want to try this lip gloss, go get one now. Thick Hair?

Do you have crazy thick hair? In my last post I mentioned about my roommate, Heather and her thick, dry hair. I wrote about a Malibu treatment to remove the mineral and rust build-up will make your hair softer and healthier. I also mentioned that we are college students so we don't have a ton of doe to spend to fix that crazy hair. Many times Heather has mentioned how she can't control her hair because it is so thick and unable to manage.

Heather's hair is very very thick and all one length. Since her hair is all one length this isn't helping the thickness issue at all, its just making it worse. She told me the other day that her hair has always been one length and hasn't really ever changed the style. First of all everyone needs to spice up there hair style once in awhile. Second if we put a few layers in her hair then this would minimize the thickness of her hair making it easier to manage.

I found two pictures of great hair styles that might work for Heather. Since Heather has longer hair I wanted to find styles that were longer because it is starting to get cold out now and short hair in the winter time could be very cold. And since she hasn't changed her styles very much I didn't want it to be to drastic. The first girl with brown hair has longer layers which are great because she will still be able to put her hair up in a pony tail if she wants but yet it isn't as thick. The second girl with blond hair has alot more layers and shorter layers which will make it thiner all throughout her hair unlike the other only on the ends.

Want softer, better looking hair?

Last month I wrote a post about my roommate, Heather, and her hair. She has very dry, thick hair. As for her thick hair there is not alot we can do about that without spending a fortune and since we college students I am trying to find cheap ways to make her hair better.

So I did some research and on damaged hair, I found that by using hard water to wash your hair causes mineral and rust build-up on your hair. This is very damaging to your hair, making it dry and unhealthy.

Since we live on campus in an apartment there isn't a whole lot we can do about the hard water but we can remove the minerals and rust from our hair by using a Malibu Hair Treatment. I found some home treatments but you can also go to the stylist. I read a review on Malibu treatments and she said that her hair was so soft after her Malibu treatment. This will make your hair softer and healthier. I love soft hair!

My sister also had a Malibu treatment done to her hair this summer, she said that it wasn't too expensive. Of course each salon is going to have different prices but here at Purdue at the Hairman it was around $15. She said it took about half hour and on the review I read she said it took about half hour or so also.

I am going to take my roommate, Heather, to get a Malibu Hair Treatment sometime soon and hopefully this will make a difference in her dry, unhealthy hair. I will let you know how it goes. More healthy hair tips coming soon.

Ways to whiten

So I chose to start whitening my teeth awhile ago. It was most likely around high school dance time, when I wanted to look good. But then I continued to, every once in awhile, to keep my teeth looking white and healthy. I started out using Crest Whitestrips and have used them up to now, when I decided to try the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips.

I think that these strips work pretty well. The Crest Whitestrips Classic instructions tell you to wear the strips twice daily for approximately 30 minutes. The Listerine ones are supposed to be worn for 5-10 minutes twice a day. Then this complete whitening process lasts for 2 weeks. After that you should have whiter teeth for at least six months, at least when you use Crest. There are different types of Crest Whitestrips that you can choose from that may be more convenient for you.

However, most of the time I don’t use these strips as much as they say you should, yet I still can tell a difference. For optimal results, you probably should wear them twice a day. I also don’t continuously use them. My teeth sometimes get sensitive so I take breaks between the two week processes. It is okay to use the treatment back to back once, but I think that it would be best if you take breaks.

So are whitening strips the only way to go? No way. If you want the best results in the shortest amount of time, you can get your teeth professionally whitened. However, this is the most expensive way, with prices ranging from $600-$1000. Then you can also get an at-home treatment that includes gel and trays from local dentist offices and these range from $300-$600. Then there are the do-it-yourself kits, such as the whitening trays, gels, and strips that you can find at local drug stores. There are also whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes. These are the least expensive way to go, but are not as effective as professional whitening treatments.

There are also other options that you can do at home that can help prevent and remove stains from your teeth. Watching what you eat and drink are the main things that lead to discoloration of your teeth. Drink more water to discourage yourself from consuming teeth staining drinks like soda, coffee, and tea. If you must drink these, drink through a straw to prevent less contact with your teeth. Smoking also causes discoloration, so just another reason not to smoke!

Eating apples, celery, and carrots allow for natural teeth cleaning since you have to chew them a lot. Broccoli, spinach, and lettuce can help prevent stains from recurring. Brushing with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda seems to be one of the good home remedies for whitening teeth.

If you choose to use any of the following ways, you need to also take precaution. If you experience sensitivity or irritated gums, you may need to shorten the time that you use your treatment, or use it less frequently. Sensitivity and irritation may also be a sign that you are not a good fit for home whitening treatments. To be sure, talk to your dentist. Also don’t use lemon or strawberry treatments, because the acid that these contain can eat away your enamel.

Whitening Update

I have continued to use the Listerine Whitening Strips, even though I don’t like them-as I described in my post. I used them yesterday and today. The taste has gotten a little better, but they still don’t dissolve as they should. I still have to brush and/or floss after I remove them. But they are working. At least I think I can tell a difference, but maybe it’s just my imagination….

So as I am sitting here trying to decide what to blog about, I am whitening my teeth. I just bought the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips today for like $24 at Wal-mart and decided to try them out. I have used the Crest Whitening Strips and didn’t really care for pulling those things off my teeth. What did you guys think of the Crest strips? But after trying these, I am pretty much in love with the Crest strips.

First off the Listerine strips taste disgusting. They just have a really bad taste that is hard to deal with for the 5-10 minutes they are to be on before they supposedly completely dissolve. However, I had mine on for about 10 minutes and they definitely were not completely dissolved. I couldn’t deal with it any more so I had to scrape them off my teeth. The strips remind me of the Listerine breath strips. They are made of a similar material and then when it “dissolves” on your teeth, it gets down between your teeth. I had to brush my teeth afterwards, yet I feel like they are still on my teeth and it didn’t get rid of the nasty taste, either. I’m about to go floss, too.

Have any of you tried them yet? What did you think? What I thought was going to be a good product ended up being a waste of my money. I am definitely not looking forward to using the other 54 strips, but they aren’t going to go to waste.

Brrr....its cold out! Time to break out the sweaters

Its definitely time to break out the sweaters! Its almost too cold to wear tank tops, t-shirts and flip flops. I don't know about you but I love changing seasons because I get to break out all of the clothes that I haven't wore since last year! Almost like getting new clothes, except your not spending any money! Thats probably the best part!

Just today I broke out one of my sweaters that I hadn't wore since last year and I got 3 comments on how great it looked on me! Everyone loves to get compliments but the best part it the fact that I still fit into my sweater and it still looks good!

So break out those sweaters that haven't been worn for a year or so and see how great you look!

What's your take on tatoos and piercings?

So for the past year or so I've been contemplating getting a tattoo or a piercing or both. So far I only have my ears pierced once, so getting a tattoo or my belly button pierced is a BIG deal to me.

What do you guys think? Do you have piercings or tattoos? Did they hurt? I'm sort of a wuss when is comes to pain. Were/Are they hard to take care of? I also have no idea what kind of tattoo to get, so how did you decide? Tell me what you think and I'll keep you posted on my search.

Cowgirl Up!

This weekend I had a couple of Halloween parties and they were really fun! But the most fun was getting dressed up! I was of course as you can see one the left a cowgirl. I didn't do alot with my make-up except use more pink colors because I was going for a pink theme. As you can see with the awesome PINK BOOTS.

Of course I went with the pigtail braids for my hair. I wasn't really sure how the side swoop (my side bangs) would work out with my hat. Since my hat fits a little tight on my head I thought that my side swoop would be sticking out looking like it was smashed to my head. but...it didn't at all! I just had to make the side swoop a little more dramatic in order for it to work with the hat.

There was also another issue I was worried about with the wearing the hair. I was afraid that my hat would get annoying and was just sure that by the end of the night it would have to come off my head. And then I would have infamous HAT HAIR eek! To deal with this issue I just put alot of hair spray in my hair to hold it in place and I was good to go!

I had alot of fun getting dressed up for Halloween. A few weeks ago I wrote a post titled GLAMOROUS!, I mentioned swing dancing. I go swing dancing just about every week usually on Wednesdays. Can you guess what this Wednesday is?! Yea, its Halloween! And of course its a dress up dance! I am so excited about going dancing in my costume!

Although I am going to change my costume up a little bit because I have a very cute skirt that will twirl better than the jean skirt. Twirly skirts are so much fun to wear swing dancing because when the lead spins you your skirt will twirl.

As you can see in the photo I also have toy guns on my belt that I am worried will get in the way. So the belt might have to come off by the end of the night.

Long story short I love getting dressed up for Halloween! Have fun and be safe!

Leather Coats

So I was looking through my People Style Watch magazine, and I noticed a picture of Keira Knightley wearing a really cute leather coat which also reminded me of me seeing a picture of Hayden Panettiere wearing almost the same exact coat. Now I'm usually not the one that's into the whole leather scene, but I thought to myself, "This coat can really pull of a ton of outfits." For example, it would look great with a simple, light, flowy dress, or with jeans and a top. It also came to me that it would go perfect with layers, just like I posted in my last blog "Fall Layers".

So I decided to go on a search, on a search for the perfect, inexpensive, leather jacket. Little did I know, I found the PERFECT jacket. It actually happened to be the same jacket Hayden Panettiere was wearing. It's from Express and it was only $248, which is not bad at all for a leather jacket. As I was searching through the site, I also found one that has a hood lined with fur (don't worry, it's not real) for the same price.

So I think I might head over there and try it on and see if it'll look good with any of my clothes, or if I can even pull it off. But don't worry, I know that you fashion savvy people, can pull it off just great.

So with leather, or without leather, it'll look great with any peices you put together.

My Skinnies

Yesterday I finally decided to buy a pair of skinny jeans. After countless times of going to the mall and wasting time staring at an ugly pair of jeans that I knew I was not going to buy that day, I finally gave in. I wasn’t completely in love, but I didn’t hate them either. AND instead of buying just one pair, I bought two! No, I didn’t love them that much, it was just a better deal at PacSun to buy two pairs for $55 than one pair for $40. I got two different shades: dark blue and regular denim color.

So I still don’t know if I am a big fan of skinny jeans, but I think that they are starting to grow on me. I wore the dark pair last night before the costume party with brown flats, and a cute flowy shirt. I have to say that I felt pretty cute. Yet, the shirt was a tank top and I need to find a long sleeve shirt to wear under it to make it more appropriate for the colder weather.

I am also looking for a new coat and there are some long coats that are at Target that would be great to wear with skinny jeans. I just can’t decide if I should get a black or brown one. What do you guys think? I can't really decide if I wear black or brown more often. Let me know what you think.

Showgirl Style

Last night I got invited to a costume party. The only problem was, I didn’t have a costume yet! So I rummaged through my closet to get some inspiration, along with my mom’s closet. I guess this was one good reason about still living at home…yet still not a good enough reason to keep staying there.

The only ideas that I could come up were my work uniform, a cowgirl, and using old dance dresses. Dressing up in my work uniform…pretty boring since I do that every day I go to work. Being a carhop for Halloween was just not going to fly. The cowgirl is not original at all and I’m pretty sure that’s what I threw together last year (and so did everyone else), so not going to work this time! Now for the old dance dresses, I didn’t really want to get all dolled up and act like I was going to go to a dance again.

That is when I found an old dress of my sister’s from like the early 90s, but looked a lot older than that. It was a strapless dress made of black lace with three tier-like levels. It had a bow with rhinestones on the chest, so I wore black heels with rhinestones and a big diamond cocktail ring. At first I was going for a flapper, but then I decided that I was going to more like a showgirl. So I spiraled curled my hair, which is already short, and made it big. Then added on my accessories, some fake lashes, and a lot of make-up and I was good to go.

I wasn’t a huge fan of my costume, but it was sufficient for the party and it didn’t cost me a dime! It wasn’t that big of a party and if I decide that I’m going to another one, I might just have to go buy one. A girl at the party was a flapper with a long skinny cigar and a boa....perfect I thought! It's what I need to be. But I would much rather save my money for something more important and just make do with what I already have.

"Cinematic Style"

So as I was searching through the Teen Vogue website, I noticed that there was a section, called "Cinematic Style" where they chose, what they thought, was one of the most stylish movies. Here is what they chose:
1. Breakfast at Tiffany's (Why am I not suprised?)
2. West Side Story
3. Annie Hall
4. Grease (Also not so suprising.)
5. Flashdance
6. Clueless (Duh!)
7. Romeo and Juliet
8. The Royal Tenenbaums
9. Marie Antoinette

I am not suprised that these movies were chosen-even though I have yet to see "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Annie Hall". These are all great movies and they are all deffinately led with great costumes. What stuck out to me most, though, was "Romeo and Juliet". Even though that is a great movie, I would've have never thought of "Romeo and Juliet" as a "stylish" movie. Whenever I saw the movie, I always thought about how boring and plain there clothes was without even considering the era the movie was taken place in.
But now that I think about it, it is very simple and modern, just how the movie was set. It sort of makes you think about what the movie really would be like if it was modern day. As I remember what Romeo, aka Leonardo DiCaprio, wore, I now think that it sort of makes him like more of a rebel. If you read the book, you don't really think of him in that way, but in the modern day movie, it looks like he is. I kind of like it, it brings it a little twist. What was also nice was what Juliet, aka Claire Danes, wore. She wore simple, light clothing. It made her look almost innocent. I think the best costume worn was Romeo in his Hawiian shirt and Juliet in a light, cream-looking dress. It almost shows what their personalities are: hard-core boy and an innocent-looking princess. So props to the head of costume.

What should I be for Halloween?

As I talked about in my last post, Halloween Time, I told you about how I was Cinderella last year for Halloween. I wore a blue dress to my prom my senior year. It is just gorgeous and definitely my favorite dress in the world! That when I realized I'm probably never going to wear it again. It was about this time last year that I realized this, that when I decided I was going to be Cinderella! I would get to wear my dress again and look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I just love Halloween!

So if you still haven't figured out what you are going to be for Halloween yet look in your closet and see what you have. Find a pretty dress and just wear it! Or just put together a bunch of crazy clothes! Its so much fun to get dressed up!

Halloween Time

As of today it is the October 23, which means you have exactly one week until Halloween or if you have a few Halloween parties this weekend you have only a few days! Are you ready yet?! Halloween is my favorite holiday because 1 you can dress-up and 2 you can look as ridiculous as you want and its ok!

I will have to say that Halloween is the one time when you can put on a boat load of make-up or put on the craziest colors you have and still look great! Or you can do the whole scary thing and make your face look like its gushing out blood. I prefer the pretty look so that what I am going to focus on.

Last year I was Cinderella, I will have to say I didn't do the best job with the make-up nor the accessories but thats ok. Cinderella's make-up was more natural and pinks for her lipstick. I wore more dramatic colors but her make-up wasn't dramatic so much it was more pretty. But its ok.

This year I am going to go as a cowgirl, so I am going to go with bold colors. I am wearing pink boots and pink shirt so I am going to try to go with more pinks than red. Matching up colors is good for Halloween. Like if you are going to be an angel lots of white and sparkles would be a really great touch! If your going to be a vampire or something red and black would be good.

But really just have fun with it! One night out of the year you can wear whatever you want and look as funny or as great as you want! Really just have fun getting dressed up because that's what its really all about. Have fun kids and be safe!

Fall Layers

So now that the weather is getting a little colder, it is time to talk about layers. Lately, I've really been into layering with light knits. Wheather it's tees, tanks, or long sleeves, it is all about layering them.

So as I look online to update my layered look, I noticed that at Urban Outfitters, they came out with a bunch of tops that you can layer. My personal favorite is the "Transperance V-Neck Tee" (in the link under "layer"). This is great because I just love t-shirts. I would get a white one and then one with color so that I can wear it under the white. My other favorite is the "Super Scoop Tee", which is a longsleeve. This would go great paired with a tank underneath. What is also great about these tees is that Urban Outfitters gives us a great 2 for $25 offer, which I know we all love.

You can also embellish this look with a long necklace. It would also be great with skinny jeans and a cute pair of flats. It would also be great to wear under the trench coat that I wrote in my other entry.

Now I know I haven't been talking about the boys lately, but this is also another great look for guys. Just get two pairs of tees and layer them, or get thermals and layer them. It'll go great with some dark jeans. Great and plain.

So now that I have helped you with a way to keep warm in this freezing weather, I hope you take my advice and try it out. It'll go great. I'll try and find other ways to keep warm!

Smells Like Fall!

So I went back to Von’s today which if you haven’t kept up is my New Favorite Place on campus. I ended up buying a little candle holder and the wax squares in Pumpkin Maple Pancakes scent. I can smell the delicious aroma as I am typing this. Just wish I could really eat it! The holder was only about $5 and the wax squares were like $3. Now my room not only looks good, but smells good, too! You can tell I love fall just by walking in. I just remembered today, however, that in the dorms you can’t have candles! So instead you might be able to use an electric warming plate. Or go for something different, like the reed diffusers. They have those at Von’s, too along with a variety of oils to choose from.

I also took a look at the jewelry. I looked at the rings and they had a huge variety, from puzzle rings to birthstone rings. They had some funky ones that had cool stones in them, too. I wanted a garnet ring (my birthstone) for graduation from my mom, but I still haven’t gotten one. I’m thinking about dragging her in there to get me one! They weren’t too expensive, either. They ranged from about $10-$50 depending on the quality of the gem and silver.

So just wanted to keep you updated on my favorites! And I’m sure that I’ll be back in there soon, to check out the rest of the store. Seriously, I could spend hours in there….

By the way, my other big purchase was a Purdue fleece, which I am totally stoked about! Now I can still wear black to the football games, but not freeze my butt off!

Progress with the Roomate

Remember when I mentioned how My roommate needs fashion help! and how I have decided that I am going to help her? Well tonight was the beginning! As I also mentioned in my last post that I was going swing dancing tonight and everyone gets really dressed up for this dance. My roommate, Heather and I both go to swing dance along with another friend, Jared. Heather and I were talking this afternoon about what we were going to wear and how to do our hair and such. That's when Heather said, "I just don't know what to do with my hair tonight." Perfect opportunity for me to give advice and make her look simply gorgeous. So I said, "Heather! You should make your hair curly! I will help you if you want me to!" She was ecstatic! I feel like she was more excited that someone actually wanted to do her hair. So I did her hair and let her do most of the blow drying trying to show her how to do it on her own instead of just me doing it for her, this way she can do it in the future. It looked amazing, as she was dancing it looked so good and she looked so pretty. Although she did mention a couple times that she didn't normally do her hair like that and it was very different. I don't know if she will do it on her own again but at least its progress in the right direction.

The one thing that I noticed most was that she smiled alot more than normal. I told her numerous times that her hair looked really good. With every compliment she seemed to be more excited. I really do feel like when you look pretty you feel better about yourself. Looking pretty can make you a happier person and confidence in yourself. I believe that looking good and feeling good about yourself are very important in life.

So get dressed up, look pretty and smile!

Incense Sticks

Okay so in my past post Aromatherapy I wrote about how you can use aromatherapy to help change your moods. I actually need some of that right now. To wake me up so I can finish typing this up. But I just talked about my new favorite place, which happens to be Von’s right off of campus. Here they sell incense, candles, and essential oils. The one stop shop to get all your mood changing basics.

I am planning on going back to Von’s in the near future, so then I can tell you more details about the incense and oils. I know that I won’t be able to keep from picking up some of these things, if not all. Soon my room is going to be my little sanctuary. But I won’t use my mix it up technique this time. Five different scents in my room might get a little overwhelming!

New Favorite Place

The other day I went into Von’s, right off of campus, for the first time. Pretty pathetic for me being a townie and all… But I had walked by a couple of times within the last couple of days and window shopped and became quite curious. Finally I got an excuse to go in. Birthday card!

I was immediately intrigued the moment I step foot in the door. Beads hung on the walls from the floor to the ceiling. There were rows of cards, cases of jewelry, and some of the coolest things you have ever seen. There was such a variety of stuff, from candles to little figurines made in different countries. I didn’t have much time to look around but I’m pretty sure there were books, music, and movies too.

I am planning on going back soon. I want to look at the jewelry…because I love adding new, interesting pieces to my collection! A new side of my personality emerged because of going in there the other day. I know it sounds weird but it’s true. I fell in love with the cards with the old-fashioned pictures on them, the inspirational quote cards, and the incense and candles.

I have an obsession for vintage items. From glass items to anything that reminds me of Marilyn Monroe and the 50s. That is probably why Von’s is my new favorite store. They have the coolest journals, beads, and incense. They had really cool glass vases that I am probably going to Auy soon, along with a candle holder. A candle goes inside the bottom part, and the heat melts wax squares that sit in the bowl on top. The scent spreads throughout your room and smells amazing! My friend Rachel got one of these for her birthday (which is also the friend I was buying the card from Von's for). The scent of her wax was pumpkin maple pancakes. Her room smelled amazing and it was perfect for fall. Let me just say that there is no way that I am going to be able to resist buying this candle holder.

So not only does Von’s have a cool selection, the set up of the store just feels cool. It’s cozy feeling with stuff on all the walls and crammed into every nook and cranny. The store isn’t a typical square either. It has some weird rooms that are like tunnels. I’m pretty sure the books are in the basement, at least, I saw them going down the stairs.

So I think that is why this store intrigues me. It has a different selection and the set up of the store is not like your typical store. It’s a change from the ordinary. And sometimes change is good.

GLAMOROUS!

Its the weekend, going out, gotta look amazing. How bout looking GLAMOROUS tonight! With a few extra make-up tips to get that extra pop that you need and want! And of course to turn those heads when you walk into the room.

Start with a desired accent color in a smoky shade such as plum, gray or dark green. Begin applying it along the lashline of the upper eyelid and then blend upward into the crease of the eye.
Use a midtone eye color starting in the crease. Blend upward from the accent color and end directly underneath the brow bone.
Complete the look with eyeliner and a natural highlighter color on the brow bone, then curl lashes and apply mascara.

Have you ever had trouble figuring out the best eye shadow shade for you? Some colors just don't look that great on everyone. Here are some eye color guidelines that I found from Mary Kay Inc.

Blue – best accentuated with warm browns, metals and peaches
Brown – stand out thanks to purples, pinks, grays and blues
Green – look divine with purples, plums and taupes
Hazel – require green, lavenders and hues with soft yellow undertones

I never really knew what colors would work best for me until I found this. The funny thing is that I usually use purples and plum colors for my eyes and that has always been my favorite . Of course I do have green eyes I had just randomly picked those colors and it turned out to be great colors for me.

Boot it Up!

So boots are in this season. Basically every type imaginable. From the ankle boots to the ones that consume your entire leg. Well, not really, only to your knee. Chloe’ found cute boots that she posted about in Get the Gossip on Fashion. I am actually considering going out to find myself a similar pair.

I personally think that the tall boots are more attractive than the ankle boots. I also think they are much more versatile than ankle boots. At least I know I would wear them more often. I have only found one pair of ankle boots that I like so far. And those are the ones pictured above. And technically they aren't even really ankle boots...but I think that's as close as I would get.

Bring on the Bright!

So, its been fall now for a couple weeks, and mother nature is letting us know with a chilly kick off to the new season. Obviously, with the onset of the colder seasons upon us, it's time to change up the wardrobes. It would be in our best interests to begin to mentally prepare ourselves to let go of the fun and flexible articles of clothing associated with the warmer months and prepare to adopt the not-so-comfortable or revealing articles associated with the cold weather. I know, its sad but its for the best, I'd hate to see people getting pneumonia for the sake of fashion. Besides, Why cant fall and winter fashion pieces be fashionable also?!
Lately I've been seeing a lot of color out and around. Usually we associate the colder months with darker black and gray clothing. And of course the emotions take a hit too. People just aren't as happy and spunky. But thankfully, with people wearing brighter colors, things are just livened up! My Fashion Live puts it well with their bright colors article, brighter colors are attention grabbing, people wake up and are ready to embrace anything besides the dull atmosphere around them.
So when you all go out shopping, snatch up the brighter colors quick! they'll make you feel ok now, but later when winter is in full force you'll be glad that you're staying warm physically in your nice clothing, but mentally feel good too, surrounded in bright happy colors.

Get the Gossip on Fashion!

So lately the biggest thing around causing a buzz is that new show on The CW "Gossip Girl". It's a show inspired by the teen novel about teens in a prestigous high school in upper-class New York City. What I've noticed lately is how great and fashion savvy the characters look in the show. As I look online to see some of their outfits in the past three episodes, I noticed that there were many articles on how to catch the look. This inspired me to put my own outfit together to get the look. But first, let me show you some cute boots from the show that People Magazine pointed out.

This scene is from the first episode and when I saw it, I thought "That is the cutest outfit!". But what stuck out to me most, were the boots. Unfortunately, I don't think I can pull it off, but it's worth trying it on. If ONLY I can figure out where I can get them. Well, according to People Magazine you can snag these boots at Chinese Laundry for only $99! Not bad.

Since People Magazine gave us the boots, I figured I'd help you fashion savvy people pull off this whole look with the boots.

The skirt was so easy for me to find because, as being a brand rep at Abercrombie & Fitch, I know that they have ht perfect plaid skirt in dark blue, light blue, and green at the store. For the white top...that can be found ANYWHERE! You can do a white polo from Abercrombie & Fitch again, or you can do a plain, white, tee which I know we all have. Now the sweater vest is what inrigues me. I unfortunately could not find a sweater vest, but I remembered that I just recently bought a cute sweater (left)with noticable buttons from Free People. Then just accessorize it with a nice long necklace.

Now I know that this look maybe be too bold for you, so I say why not drop the skirt and pair it with skinny jeans tucked into the boots. Now what if you want the skirt but it's too cold to wear the skirt bare??Simple, tights seem to be the in thing lately, so why not wear tights. I prefer that if you were to wear tights, I'd pair them with black, white, or gray tights.

Today I have gotten at least three compliments on my hair! They asked me "Did you do something different with your hair?" But I haven't done anything different at all! Nothing besides the fact that I used my glorious pink hair straightener also mentioned in my last post. That is the one and only thing that is different!

This weekend I was at Walgreens, printing some pictures, when I saw a pink hair straightener. I am a huge pink fan anyway but when I looked a little bit closer I saw that it had the pink ribbon symbol for Breast Cancer. Thats when I remembered that it is breast cancer awareness month, from reading Breast Cancer Awareness Month blog posted by Jasmine.

I really didn't need a hair straightener but I really wanted a pink straightener because I am in love with pink. Not only that but I also wanted to support breast cancers. It wasn't too expensive either it was about $20. I was also afraid that it was going to be a cheap straightener and not work very well. But it was great! It has a temperature setting and I was able to straighten my hair this morning in about 5 mins normally it takes about 10-15 mins. I was very impressed!

Trench

So just recently I got a comment on my entry titled "Fall's Hottest Coats" by Purduewaterpolo 4 saying:

"I actually bought a brand new Coach trenchcoat last spring and its my favorite thing. The only problem with it is I feel like I have no where to wear it. Its not warm enough for the winter so theres only a limited number of times I can wear it. It's also really fancy so that limits the places I can wear it to."

Well this is for you, Purduewaterpolo4, and everyone else wondering how to wear one of fall's hottest coats.

Dressing up a trench coat, we all know, is very simple. You can never go wrong dressing it up with that little black dress and black stilletos. Well, now that the weather is getting cooler try adding on tights to that outfit. Another option, going for very slimp black trousers. Those would look great with the loose fitting of the coat. You can also bundle up by pairing those pants with a cute cardigan or a cable-knit sweater. This classic look always works best for everyone.

"Now how do I dress it down?" you ask. Well this can be hard because trench coats ARE so dressy. But why not dress it up with a nice pair of jeans? No, we are absolutely not talking about just those regular jeans that looked worn out. We're talking nice, classy jeans. Try going for a dark colored pair of jeans. I personally think that dark colored jeans would look best just because they match any kind of top you want to wear: casual, dressy, or even just around the house.

Now to bundle up once it starts getting colder. I say that you can never go wrong with layering and wear another sweater or even maybe a nice zip-up underneath.

The cool thing about perfume and cologne is that you can change it based on your mood. If you want to send a message that you want to be more girly, wear a more flowery scent. There are so many ways that you can portray your personality through your particular perfume or cologne. Just don’t go overboard. Less is always better.

Also it is possible to change your mood with different scents through aromatherapy. Lavender and jasmine are great for helping relieve stress by helping with relaxation. Lemon can help you stay alert and basil can help increase your concentration. So start using these to do better in your classes!!

Reed diffusers are a great way to incorporate these smells subtly in your room or house. They make great gift ideas and can make a cute fashion statement too.

Signature Scent

Have you ever been walking around and suddenly smelled a familiar scent? It happened to me in Fazoli’s yesterday. I smelled Abercrombie cologne on a guy in front of me in line. I think it’s crazy how I can distinguish scents so well and also how we connect different scents with past memories.

So do you have a signature scent? I know that everyone has their own personal scent, because when I borrow my friend, Kate’s clothes, I’m like “oh it smells like Kate!” It’s not necessarily just her perfume (which is Paris Hilton), but the smell of her laundry detergent, lotion, and house in general. But it is still distinguishable to me.

I remember one day I was working at Texas Roadhouse. A guest stopped me to ask what perfume I was wearing because his wife really liked it. I stopped to think and realized, I wasn’t wearing any! I was like, what the heck smells so good and how did it get on me? I think it ended up being my laundry detergent…

But the point is, I usually don’t wear perfume. I don’t necessarily have a signature scent either. I’m a mix-it-up kinda girl. I usually layer a couple of scents; lotion with maybe a spritz of perfume or body splash. Most of the time my body wash is different from my lotion which is different from my perfume that I MIGHT wear.

Instead of having a signature scent, I sort of “create” my own. But I still want my own unique perfume. I like Romance by Ralph Lauren and Very Irresistible by Givenchy. I also love Bath and Body Works lotion. My favorite fall scent: Brown Sugar and Fig. It definitely puts me in the mood for crunchy leaves, sweaters, and Thanksgiving!

My roomate needs fashion help!

Have you ever seen someone on the street and were just like "Ah! They need some fashion help!" Well my roommate, Heather, is one of those people. Now don't get me wrong I love her to pieces, but sometimes she just needs a little help thats all. Many times she will ask me if something looks ok and such. I take those opportunity's right away to help her look better. Although sometimes its just really hard to tell someone when they are wearing something that does not look good. I don't want to hurt there feelings but then again I don't want them to walk around with I something crazy on or just crazy hair. Kinda like the zipper situation, you see a friend with there fly unzipped. If you tell them they will be embarrassed but if you don't tell them they walk around with it unzipped for the world to see! EEK! I usually tell them but for some reason its harder to tell a friend there outfit just isn't working for them.

But I have decided that I am going to help my roommate with her fashion. I am going to show her new things to do with her hair to try and make it look better without telling her the way she normally wears it is bad. And maybe when we go shopping I will pick something up and say "Oh this would look great on you!" I really think that this will work out great and my goal is for her to be looking amazing by the end of the year!

I challenge you to make a difference in someone and make them look gorgeous! You can do it!

Need a Little Brush for Your Purse?

Since this is Breast cancer awareness month, mentioned in Jasmine's post Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I wanted to see what exactly kind of items they had for sale. Thats when I saw this cute little pop-up brush. I had a brush like this when I was younger. I really dont know who invented these amazing little pop-up brushs but it really is a great invention.

If you haven't ever seen a brush like this, basically the brush part folds in and out. Making it easy to put in your purse or backpack. Also, as shown in the picture there is a mirror so you can also look at your pretty face and hair.

Today, I really needed a brush because I was on a fieldtrip where we had to stand outside and of course it was incredibly windy so my hair just went everywhere! When I got back it would have been so nice to have a brush that I could have used to fix my hair in the bathroom so I wouldn't of had to walk around all day with this crazy hair!

Clumpy Lashes?

Remember when posted about Mascara? I wrote about Mary Kay's Ultimate Mascara, I also said that I was going to buy some for myself to see how great it really was. I am now reporting back to you how great it was! Oh man did it work great let me tell you. I love it!

I had been wanting to order my mascara for a while now but I couldn't because I am new to this Mary Kay business, and hadn't made my first order yet and I had to buy a certain amount in order to receive the wholesale price instead of the retail price.(I receive the wholesale price so I can make money) Although it wasn't hard to do this because I had my very first orders this week, YAH! It was pretty exciting.

My order came in today I was so excited because I was able to finally try my new Mascara. I had already been using the Waterproof Mascara which is also very good and works great because it was not so easy to wash off(it being waterproof and all). So I tried the Ultimate on one eye and the Waterproof on the other. I did this just to see how much of a difference there really is. Right away I could see the difference between the two. The Waterproof still looked great but the Ultimate really made my eyes just pop right out. But the biggest difference I found was it just made my eyes look alot bigger, and the lashes seemed to be longer.

The Ultimate Mascara didn't stick as much as most mascara's do either which was another huge benefit. Have you ever had the problem with your mascara sticking together and making your lashes all clumpy and gross? Yucky! A great trick to avoid the clumpy lashes is to go from side to side and up when applying mascara. When I was in high school getting ready for the good ol' prom, I had my make-up done, I asked why she was going side-to-side when she put my mascara on? She said 'it keeps the mascara from being clumpy.' I am still a little unsure of why exactly apply it this way works but it sure does! Or you can also use the Mascara combs to remove any clumps or to separate the lashes.

A few weeks ago I had been talking about lipstick in my post Luscious Red Lips and well I was reading a post on Makeup Bag. The post is talking about Estée Lauder Signature Lipstick in Rich Red. I saw the picture of this and I was like oh my gosh I just love that color! Bringing me back to my old post like I talked about before. Bring out the Red lipstick is a huge thing right now! Everyone seems to becoming out with all these new colors and women look great with these colors!

So I decided to see what exactly Marykay has in the red category. I found this gorgeous color that I am just in love with! Its called

Red Salsa (on the right) the other color shown above is our Redwood(left) which is also so very pretty but that Red Salsa really just catches your eye right away! Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There are many opportunities if you want to do your own part to help promote knowledge and research for a cure. Target has partnered with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to help raise money. There are some really cute items, like hair straighteners and jewelry you can find at Target, or take a look at the items here.

I personally would choose the IPod docking station that I saw in the store. I don’t have many accessories for my IPod yet, and this one would be perfect. It is my favorite color (pink of course!) and would match my room perfectly!

So do your part to help with breast cancer research. Get what you would normally get, just choose pink instead!

What to Wear?

So, I have a wedding to go to on January 12. I decided I might need to start thinking about what I am going to wear. I am currently thinking about looking for a blue dress…because basically the only formal wear I have is black. The only formal rules I found about wearing black to a wedding is that you are not supposed to wear black to a daytime wedding. But I still don’t like the idea of wearing black to a wedding. It is so depressing! So I am going to look into wearing a blue dress.

I still don’t know too much about the formality of the wedding, but think that it will be pretty formal. I will know more once I get the invitation. I went to the wedding shower yesterday and it was very nice. So I can assume that the wedding will be of the more formal type. Because it is still really warm outside, I keep thinking of sleeveless or strapless dresses. Will these be warm enough or too flashy? Shoot me your suggestions. I’m sure that I could wear sleeveless as long as I had a coat or something over it.

Poser or not?

What do you classify as? Punk? Preppy? Sporty? Gangsta? Most people can be “classified” into some category. Yet, then there are those who have no idea how they are classified. I would consider myself to be in that category.

So some days I just wake up and feel the need to wear girly clothes with pearls. Then other days I want to just wear comfy sweats. I think that we all feel this way to an extent…just go with the flow and wear whatever we feel like. But there are the extremists who can clearly be classified as preppy, punk, or any other group.

But do you ever feel that if you go outside your comfort zone that others will see you as faking it? I know that when I wear a new look for the first time, I feel different. Like everyone is looking at me and thinking, “Lindsey that is not you at all.” I feel like a poser. But that’s not what I’m trying to do at all!

Basically I feel that I am exploring. I’ve never owned a pair of chucks, but I want a pair now. Sometimes I wear turquoise eyeliner. I want to paint my nails black. I simply think that all these are ways of self-expression. Once again a way to play up your individuality.

Take this as an example. I got a new pair of tennis shoes yesterday. Now I love shoes but I haven’t gotten new tennis shoes in forever! I picked out a pair of Pumas that are white and pink. Of course these fit me (and my room!) perfectly. The only thing is they make me look like a basketball player. At least I think they do. And I definitely do not play basketball. I am terrible! But I love the shoes and am glad I got something different.

So I am not a poser. I just feel that I can pull off different looks that fit different aspects of my personality. I am exploring all the options and there are so many ways to make a look uniquely yours! Throw on some unique jewelry. Paint your nails. Switch up your eyeliner. Pair an unexpected shoe with your outfit. Color your hair. Get a NEW haircut. I decided to do this before school started this year. I cut off like 6 inches and my hair was the shortest it had been since middle school! I wanted something different, but now I know that short hair is definitely not for me. I want my long hair back!

So by throwing in your own personal touch, people can begin to distinguish you from the crowd. I know that I notice little things about people and then I relate that item to that person from that moment on. For example, one of my friends would wear 2 different earrings or just one. Sounds weird but it was cute on her and she could pull it off. So when I was checking out of Target the other day, and I thought the cashier was only wearing one earring, I thought of her. Come to find out, she was really wearing two…I just couldn’t see it.

So have fun making your look your own! I know I'm going to continue exploring!

Style it Up Men!

Guys hair is such a big issue for me because sometimes men just don't seem to care about there hair. Granted there are many men out there that do care alot about it! For example I know this guy that I went to school with and he was so obsessed with his hair looking good that he would take 2 hours everyday to straighten it! It always looked good, I was just so impressed with that. But I do feel like there are many men who just simply dont care. Then it looks all nappy and gross.

Personally I look for a guy with nice hair, that is NOT the only qualitly I am looking for, and I am certianly not saying that looks are everything! As long as he has a good heart and is loving thats all that really matters. But I will have to say that I do notice if he has good looking hair.

I feel like socitey is always saying that females have to look good all the time and be pretty but what about the men? I want something good to look at too! Like this picture of this guy, his hair looks great! I know that sometimes men just aren't up on the lastest hairstyles and fashion but you can always ask your stylest about what you should do with your hair to make it look better to be more appealing to the ladies. My Room. My Masterpiece.

As I have talked about before in my Display YOUR Personality post , everyone has a unique way of displaying their individuality. I personally feel that interior design is definitely a form of fashion. It relies on balance and what is in and out. So if someone walked into my room, they could definitely get a taste of who I am.

My room is pink and orange. I started out with a comforter and went from there. It took me weeks to figure out how I was going to make my room unique and then weeks to actually do it. I ended up painting polka dots on one wall, using cardboard pizza inserts and butter dish lids as stencils. Then on another wall I painted diagonal stripes that I had to tape off. Underneath those I used magnetic paint so I can hang things on my walls. Although it’s not as strong as I thought it would be…

So my room sounds really bold, right? Well, I think that I do a good job on balancing the boldness with soft, feminine things. My room is my oasis that shows off so much of my personality, and changes as it does. I love my family and friends. I love the country. I love to read. I love to be creative. I love antique pieces, especially if they are glass. I love the beach.

I think that my room does a good job of showing all of these aspects of my personality. The photos, the cowgirl hat, the stacks of books, the glass dresser knobs, and the overall design of my room help to portray myself to the world. And the cool thing about it is, as you change, so can your room! But not many people get to see my room so I decided to share it with you guys!

So these pictures are only a split second of the past. And my room has definitely changed since they were taken. Maybe I have added or removed things. There are a few more clothes on the floor, along with my backpack and some other random stuff. Even this says a lot about me. That I’m either lazy, or was in a hurry this morning (probably a little of both), that I am a student, and maybe my life is a little hectic right now. But it’s my favorite place to be, no matter if it is messy or perfectly clean. It’s my masterpiece.

My Show Box

Do you ever have the problem of keep your make-up organized? Or maybe you travel alot and are always having a problem with trying to pack your make-up in a hurry. This summer I had this problem more than I ever have! I lived and worked in Lafayette, Indiana but my hometown is in Warsaw, Indiana (about 2 hours away) and I went home every weekend to help out on the farm and my sister was getting married. So on Friday's I was always in a hurry to pack-up and leave. I also go camping alot in the fall and I dont have alot of extra room in my bag to spare. To solve this problem I got this box (shown above). My dad likes to call it my 'Show Box' because we show cattle alot and when we go to a cattle show we have this big box with items we use to groom our cattle, making them all pretty. Keeping all of the essential items in a box helps so we dont forget things coming or going. So I keep all of the essentials in my 'show box', this way when I do have to leave quickly I can just close up my box and run! It is makes it so much easier to pack! And still keep everything organized and not as likly to forget something.

I usually do my hair in the bathroom but do my make-up at my vanity mirror in my room. Before I seemed to have my make-up all over the place and did my make-up wherever my make-up was at that time but this made it so hard for me when I had to leave. I just didn't have a good place to keep everything. Once I got my 'show box' I had a place to keep all of my make-up.

I found this cute little 'show box' at Walmart for really cheap, $5! There are bigger ones and smaller ones no matter how much or how little make-up you have. You can get ones that have lots of colors or sparkles. I am a very organized person so finding something that is cute and organized is perfect!

Eeeww!! How do I make this oil go away?!

Is your face oily?! Mine is so incredibly oily all the time! Even after I wash my face, a few hours later my face is oily again! Uck its so gross. And then I go throughout the day and by noon my face is so shiny that its almost blinding! So the question is how in the world do I make this disguesting, shiny, oily face go away without messing up my make-up?! Dont you worry I have it covered ladies, its called Beauty Blotters® Oil-Absorbing Tissues. Its just tissue paper type of thingy that you blot on your face removing the oil without distirbing your make-up. Its genious!

These are also so quick and easy to use, you simply take out your Beauty Blotter, blot the areas where you have the most shine and oil. (Usually the forehead, nose and chin) Don't rub with the blots or you will just be smiring the oil back into your skin. We want that oil to be gone not all over your face to just remember blot blot blot.

If you aren't convenced yet let me just give you a senario. You have been in class from 8:30 and its about noon. You have a lunch date with this adorable guy, you are suppose to meet in about 5 mins but you decided to run the to the bathroom real quick to apply you bright red lipstick (like I talked about in Luscious Red Lips) you look in the mirror and all you see is shine! OH GROSS!! You try to wipe it off with a paper towel but you can't get it all off. What are you going to do?! Then this lovely girl in the bathroom is seeing the problem that you are having, and she is like "Oh man I hate it when my face is so oily! Fall's Hottest Coats!

So I've noticed that not only is it starting to get a little cold outside, but I also see that coats are being sold EVERYWHERE. I also see the celebrities (such as Jessica Alba) wearing them. So I thought, why not write about the hottest coats that are around.

The coats that I've been seeing lately have been looking really good. You can dress them up or dress them down and still use the same style. Whereas before, there used to be "dressy" coats or "casual" coats. Now, I see people using the same coat in various ways.

Let's take Jessica Alba here, for example. She dressed up this nice, black, wool pea coat with a simple black dress and heels. I think she looks great. But if you have a coat like this and you want to dress it down a bit, I suggest working this coat with jeans and a casual top, such as a button down or a sweater, and cute heels or flats. Now with this length of a coat, I suggest working this with skinny, boot cut, or flared jeans. If you're more into the wide legged jeans, I say go for a shorter cut. If you wanna accessorize your coat, you can never go wrong with a long necklace or pendant. This look would not only look great with a black coat, but also with a cream colored one.

Now you don't always have to stick with the rules and go with a black coat. I've also seen a lot of red coats, too, which is awkward for me because I'm usually not a red kind of person. But I think that this is a look that some of you fashion savvy people can pull off. You can pull off a red coat by pairing it with a black dress or maybe black skinny jeans and a cute sweater or button down. I think this would give your look a more "funky"/ "retro" vibe, especially with that splash of red.

So now that I gave you some tips on looking hott while trying to stay warm, I hope that you can use this advice and maybe spice it up with your own imagination. Till next time.

Turn your day around with some color!

I am in love with bright nail polish! This weekend I went to get my nails filled, I went to pick a color that I wanted put on my nails I saw this crazy bright pink polish. I am in love with pink and then I saw this bright color it caught my eye! I did choose this color for my nails and let me tell you, I have gotten so many compliments! This nail polish is so much fun! I do like to have good looking nails and this bright polish makes my nails stand out so much. Although there are definitely times when my nails don't look so great, because I do live on a farm and well...sometimes ya just gotta get your hands dirty! But I clean-up well, or at least I try to.

Anyway, since I have wore this nail polish all weekend not only have the compliments made me feel better but just the face that my nails look nice made me feel better about myself. Even when I was at the nail place getting my nails done it is so relaxing and afterwards I feel great about myself and my nails of course!

Everyone has a bad day or just days when you are down. So go do something to make yourself feel better! Get your hair done or nails or tanning anything that will make you feel better. I did this and I felt so much better! I hope that you will do the same! Have a great day!

Okay, since I have been talking about large bags all week, I will stick with the trend. Earlier in my Every Girl’s Must Have post, I described the items I would carry in my “hypothetical purse.” However, if you looked in my purse right now, you would only see chaos. There’s like five pounds of change in the bottom, receipts and papers, a program from the musical Hairspray (which was amazing!), camera, camera battery charger, lotion, and the contents from my wallet spilled all over. Plus my sunglasses, contact solution, contact case, jewelry, and some make-up. Oh, and don’t forget my laptop battery charger that I might need since I am typing this at work….

Ever since I started at Purdue, I have to transfer stuff from my backpack to my purse ALL the time. It is so annoying and that is how my purse gets so messy, because I am always in a hurry, so I just throw stuff in there. However, lately I have been carrying only my wallet, cell phone, and keys. Still, most of the time this is an inconvenience. I had a suggestion to organize everything in your purse by finding cute bags. I used to do this, but never stuck with it. I could put all of my “essentials,” like wallet, cell phone, lip gloss, and keys in a cute bag, which could make transferring things from backpack to purse a lot faster and easier. I love this idea because not only would it make it a lot easier to find stuff, it would keep my purse a lot neater!!!

Goin Big

Ok so obviously theres this trend thats been around for a while. Not sure where it came from or why, but i really wish it hadn't come. Girls everywhere ae blowing things up, WAY UP, and out of proportion. And no, unfortunately not using pyrotechnics. Accessories have been increased in size to an alarming level. Those who possess the Y chromosome are wearing bigger sunglasses, hats and belts, and are toting the biggest bags i've seen!

Honestly, i dont see a reason to be wearing and carying such large items. Sure a lot of people are doing it, but they shouldn't, and the trend has been around far too long. My main complaint against such monstrous articles....they look rediculous.
Tric-clopses dont exhist and thus, cant utilize such large sunglasses, steer away from wearing the "fashion" sombreros in disguise, pants weren't built to accomodate such large belts (pretty sure they were modified just for the trend) and i know no girl that has the need of being able to fit several human heads into her bag! But most importantly they throw everything out of proportion.

Its all about proportions. Wearing and carying the large accessories creates the illusion that the girl possesing them is smaller. I will admit though that wearing big belts and sunglasses or carying a big bag can be pulled off by some girs. Depends on the circumstances and what else is being worn. What happened to being tall and slender?! Well me complaining about it isn't going to help but hopefully the girls now know what a normal guy thinks. All i can advise though is to stick with things that fit well with your body size and shape. Use your instinct on what YOU look good in, i trust you will make good decisions if you do so.

Is Bigger Always Better?

So like I said before in my blog post Every Girl’s Must Have, I love big bags stuffed full of anything and everything!!! Yet, usually I don’t carry them…especially since I have started Purdue. I carry a backpack, thinking that it would be better for my back than a huge bag hung on one shoulder. This is true, yet it still isn’t very good for my back. Your backpack shouldn’t weigh more than 15% of your weight and never over 25 pounds. Out of curiosity I weighed mine and it typically would weigh 15 pounds. Fifteen percent of my weight is 18 pounds, so I am right at the borderline. My back still hurts, though.

If you are carrying a heavy purse, you are more prone to having neck, shoulder, and back pain since there is so much more weight on one side of your body. I know that when I carry a purse, it is always on the same shoulder. It feels so weird if I try to wear it on the other one!! When you carry a heavy bag, you tend to hold that shoulder higher, which can lead back, or neck problems.

So back and neck pain are in right now, the consequences of carrying large, trendy bags. This means that massages are in, too! Even the New York Times have mentioned these problems. Robin Erlich, director of the Eastside Massage Therapy Center in New York City, has noticed that “We’re busier than ever before right now and big bags are the reason.”

But if you can’t afford going to get a massage to ease your pain, try to carry a smaller bag, or at least lighten the weight of your large one. But if you can’t do that, you should try to carry a purse with a long strap so that you can distribute the weight more evenly by wearing it across your chest. Instead of carrying your large tote to class with all your books in it, try a backpack with the one-shoulder strap design. These are the best at distributing the weight evenly.

The next time you decide to lug around your entire room with you think twice about what it might be doing to your posture, neck, and back. Big bags are in for a couple of seasons, but you might have to deal with back problems for the rest of your life.

A Girl's Must Have

We all see it… You know, you’re walking and you see a walking bag in front of you… Oh, wait, there’s the girl…

Yeah, the girls with the super oversized bags on their shoulders…they might as well get inside, too. Now I have to admit, being a girl and all, that I don’t have a small purse by any means. It’s pretty heavy, too. And I LOVE having big bags! Now all the guys are like, “What is the point of having SUCH a BIG bag???”

All the girls know how frustrating it is to spend 10 minutes digging through the bottomless pit and not finding your favorite lip gloss that you need right this very instant. That is why it is ESSENTIAL to have a huge bag. This might not make any sense whatsoever, but basically you have to be prepared for anything that might come up. Even if it means you have to spend 10 minutes looking for it, at least you know you it’s in there…somewhere….

So in my hypothetical “purse” there would be a bag and pockets for each item so that I don’t spend all day looking for a bobby pin. There are the essentials: wallet, lip gloss, cell phone, and keys. Without these items, I go crazy!! I hate it most when I forget to grab my lip gloss!! Add in cute bags filled with make-up, band-aids, dental floss, contact solution, eye drops, and a contact case. Then my case with my glasses would have to make its way in, too. Then there would be the sunglasses (in a case, too) and umbrella. I would have an extra hair tie and bobby pins plus some hairspray, deodorant, lotion, hand sanitizer, and perfume, too. Then I can’t forget the nifty oily skin blotters, gum, small snack, and a Tide-To-Go pen. What about the days you might need a nail file, Kleenex, or some ibuprofen??

Now for the camera, iPod, PDA, and calculator. Plus my planner, pens, pencils, highlighters, mini stapler, tape, paper clips, and binder clips. Might as well throw in the 3-hole punch, too. Might need a book for boring bus rides or breaks between classes, too.

Okay so I really don’t carry all of these things with me…..but with big bags in this season it could be possible…..

Bat those Gorgeous Eyes!

I have been surfing net tonight trying to decide what to write about but also just to see what is new with fashion and looking for some fun new things to do with my fashion. As I was surfing I found this really cute website Makeup Minute and I was reading about her this blog about fake eye lashes. Here is the link to the post.

I have never actually tried fake eye lashes, I'm not really sure why but it could be partly because I have fairly long eye lashes anyway. As I was reading this post about the eye lashes I decided to see what MaryKay had for mascara because mine is about to run out soon so I was looking to see what was new and what some of the products have to offer.

I found this great marscara that seems to be almost perfect its called-MK Signature® Ultimate Mascara™ (Picture found above)

Out of the blue!

So lately I've been noticing that a majority of the celebrities are wearing blue. Also, I was reading my "People Magazine" and it happens to be that cobalt, or blue, is a must have for fall. I recently went on the People Magazine

website, and up shows these three celebrities-Hayden Panettiere, Cameron Diaz, and Kelly Ripa- in gorgeous, blue dresses. "People Magazine" spotted these three celebrities wearing these dresses from great designers: Hayden is wearing a Cynthia Rowley tunic, Cameron is wearing Diane Von Furstenberg, and Kelly is wearing Catherine Malendrino. Of course, these girls pull it off very well! I find these dresses quite interesting because I would NEVER have thought of wearing bright blue dresses that stand out. After seeing my possibilities with blue dresses, I deffinately went out in search of these dresses to see how I'd work out in them. And let me tell you, I loooved the color, and I know that you will too!!

Now I know that some of us can't afford these extravagen dresses, and that is why I am here to let you all know where you can find great finds for these dresses. Well, I recenlty went to Chicago and I saw some blue, fabulous, dresses at stores such as Forever 21, and Arden B. I tried them on, and I absolutely loved this blue halter dress that had silver and black accents. While I was wearing the dress, I thought that they would look absolutely gorgeous with silver stilletos. So of course, being me, I got the dress...and for a great price too...$22! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find it online but I found a ton of other great dresses on the site. I also found other dresses from Arden B. While I was on the Arden B site, I noticed that their new thing is blue-which explains the title of this post, thanks! I browsed through the site, and I found a ton of cute dresses for reasonable prices as well. I'm kind of disappointed I wasn't able to go in the store while I was in Chicago, but hey, I can always go on another day. Here is an example of a dress I found from Arden B. that I think might inspire you:

This dress is from Arden B., and I thought that this dress sort of looked like the one Hayden was wearing. This would go great with silver heels or even silver flats! If you want to play this look low key, you can never go wrong with black shoes!

Now I know I've been talking about dresses a lot lately, but it just seems to follow me everywhere. Everywhere I look I see dresses. But no worries, I found this cute top at Forever 2. This would look really cute with either dark skinny jeans or black skinny jeans and heels or flats. This would also look cute with black leggings with either heels or flats as well.

New Ring!!!

I have added a new ring to my collection! Just yesterday I stopped by the jewelry stand near Class of ’50, to pick up my newest addition. I had seen it the day before and had immediately fallen in love! They told me it was called a Victorian wedding ring (I know I’m not married!!! Or planning on it anytime soon). It looks like two hands clasping until you take it off. Then when you gently pull apart the hands, there is a heart inside.

The ring was so interesting that I decided to do a little more research on it. Not just to tell you guys about it, but to actually know the background behind the ring that I am wearing. But I could not find a ring even close to it that was called a Victorian anything!

Finally I found a similar ring called a “Fede” or Faith” ring, which was very popular in Europe during the Middle Ages. It has two hands clasping, which symbolizes the “pledging of love.” Then as my search continued, I found that the Claddagh ring is part of the Fede ring family. It has two hands clasping a heart that is topped by a crown. These originated in Ireland and symbolized love, friendship, and loyalty. Then, finally I found the Gimmel ring, which is in the Claddagh ring family, and is the ring that I am currently wearing. During the Middle Ages, the ring would be separated at the engagement of a couple. The man and woman would break away their parts, and then give the heart piece to a witness. Then at the wedding ceremony, the three portions of the ring were reunited and symbolized the union of two lives.

Not only is the ring itself a symbol, the way you wear it is important, too. Mainly the rules apply to the Claddagh ring, because you can see the heart when it is on your finger. If the ring is worn on your right ring finger, with the heart pointing away from you, it means that your heart is unoccupied. If the heart is facing in, then it means that you have a special commitment to someone. If the ring is worn on your left ring finger, with the heart facing outwards, it means that you are engaged. If it is facing inwards, then you are married.

I love the fact that there is a story behind this ring and it symbolizes three important things that are needed in a relationship: friendship, loyalty, and love. Yeah, everyone wants a huge diamond on their finger, but I think that it would be so cool to have one of these rings at my wedding, and to join them together into one. Here are some more beliefs for contemporary wedding rings:

· - -The circle shape of the ring represents eternity.

· - -The diamond is also said to bring loyalty and fidelity.

· - -There is said to be good luck for the marriage if the diamond is accented with precious birthstones.

So basically I found out that my ring is an Irish wedding ring and symbolizes love and friendship. No one needs to know that I bought it for myself!!! ;)

Lime-Light Fashion

I'm not one who really cares about what celebrities are doing with their lives. Brittney Spears' career is ending?, Angelina Jolie adopted how many babies? Jennifer Aniston is dating who? Honestly none of it concerns me. But most noticable about celebrities is what they wear. People are just so intrigued by what the lime-lighters are wearing to their special events. Not so much that it's a big deal, but it seems to be a reliable source of up-and-coming fashion trends, current trends, and a way to see what people with bottomless bank accounts choose to wear.

Of course with so many peering eyes on celebrity fashion, gossip surfaces quickly, and is very abundant. There are so many blogs out there that focus on the negative sides of celebrity fashion, but i prefer to focus on the positives, like this blog

Hmm...well she just has this cute, pretty, nice girl thing about her, but at the same time can be very sexy. Jessica just seems cool, fun, and exciting. Plus she is smokin' HOT just my opinion....................and every other guy's opinion.

I think the coolest thing people can do with fashion is to look snazzy, fancy, sleek, and cool, but still maintain a fun and exciting persona. I've got an idea...and i'm sure it's been done, but wear a nice suit, but with just some funky converse or other tennis shoes. Actually i think Johnny Knoxville does this all the time!?

Display YOUR Personality

Everyone has a way of depicting their personality through their style and fashion. It may be through their style of dress, hair color, shoes, make-up, or accessories. It may be one single thing or a mixture of things. It might be the same over a course of years, or change like the weather. Whatever it may be, it is what makes YOU stand out from the crowd.

Now at first you may have no idea what visibly makes you different from everyone else. I thought this too, until I finally figured out what my personal touch is. Every time I wear them, I feel unique. I guess it may sound funny that just wearing a simple, little thing can make me feel different. But it does. It is my own personal touch to each outfit, especially my work uniform (which isn’t so glamorous). When all the girls are wearing the same thing as me, it is hard to feel like myself.

So what is my personal touch? I decided that my jewelry makes me unique. Not all of my jewelry, mainly my rings. I don’t have the typical diamond ring or class ring. Instead I have a spoon ring and a pinkie ring that are my all time favorites. Every time I wear them, I feel they set me apart from everybody else. Is this just because I have never seen rings similar to mine in any stores? Or that every time I wear them, someone comments on my spoon ring? I don’t think so. I think that those rings mean a lot to me because they are my mom’s. Each time I wear them, I know that there is more behind them than just the look.

I have been sitting here pondering on what to write on so I decided that I would just write more about lipstick as in my last post.http://http://3girlsaguy.blogspot.com/2007/09/luscious-red-lips.html. So I have found a few lipstick tips for all of you! How exciting right! I am pretty excited to tell you!

Ok so first of all I was looking on the MaryKay website (for consultants) Or you can also go to My MaryKay website. http://http://www.marykay.com/awise80/default.aspx to find this product as shown in the picture on the left. This is TimeWise® Age-Fighting Lip Primer. MaryKay sells this product it works great for you lips! I haven't tried it yet but have heard from many MaryKay customers that it works great! I was wearing some lipstick the other day and it was late in the afternoon so I had been wearing it for awhile and I looking in the mirror and I had this really gross looking line of lipstick. The lipstick had just kind of wore off but then I still had this line of it. It just looked really sick! So then I put more on but that was only going to make it worse later. Anyway, I have been trying to find something to help this problem and I have decided that this Lip Primer will help!

Now girls I know that it says TimeWise Age-Fighting, and your thinking dude I'm only 20! I dont need age-fighting make-up yet! And you are right you dont right now but this Lip Primer from MaryKay not only helps with the age-fighting but it does make those gross lines go away too! And not only that but TimeWise Age-Fighting Lip Primer also will make your lipstick last longer!

You just simply apply to your lips BEFORE your lipstick or lip gloss, which ever you prefer. This will help with those lip lines, make softer lips, AND make your lipstick last longer! How much better can this get!

My favorite part about the Lip Primer is that it will make your lips soft. I always feel like my lips are getting dried out when I wear lipstick. Especially if I don’t keep applying more. Anyway, as I was saying wearing lipstick sometimes makes my lips feel dried out so this lip primer will help with that problem. And then maybe since I won't be so worried about my lips being dried out maybe I can get rid of this chap stick addiction that I have.

I also promised you that I would give you some lipstick tips and so far I have only given you one. So here are 3 easy steps to applying lip color.
1.Apply TimeWise® Age-Fighting Lip Primer 2.To help lipstick wear, make a matte base by lining lips with lip liner along the natural lip line and filling in lips with lip liner pencil. Then apply lipstick.3.You can also blend two or more lipstick shades and lip glosses to get a different color or just to create your own lip color.

The 3 step is just a suggestion but I think it is a great one! Say that you wear the same color everyday and you like it but....you feel that you should change things up a bit but don’t want it to be too dramatic. Well just blend your favorite with another color! Or if you can't decide try to and see how you like it! Just try different things until you find what you like or don't like! This can be scary at time to just try things.
*Remember you can always wash it off if you don't like it!!!

Sparkling Dresses!

So I recently just bought my "People: Style Watch" magazine and almost everywhere I look I see dresses. Now, these dresses aren't just ordinary dresses, they're dresses with really cute jeweled or sequenced neckline. When I saw these, I thought to myself, "Wow, these dresses are adorable!". Since I absolutely loooooove dresses, I'm really glad that these embellished dresses are cute and great for any occasion. For all of you fashion savy girls who love dresses just as much as I do, I think you'll love these too!

It's not just in my "People" magazine that I see embellished neck line dresses, I also saw them in my "Teen Vogue" magazine. It was great because they showed me a great way to wear these dresses. I agree with "Teen Vogue" and "People" when they say not to wear them with too much jewelry. Wearing these dresses with jewelry makes you seem too cluttlered and all over the place. It is just simply too much wearing heave jewelry when there are already jewels or sequence on the dress, even if it's just on the neckline. I prefer to wear these dresses with simple earings and maybe one thing bangle or a charm bracelet. Now for shoes, I prefer to wear these dresses with either mettalic shoes, or cute pointed stilletos. I prefer not to wear anything too cluttery because I want to show my dress to everyone, not my jewelry, and the dress will surely pop out if I just accessorize it with simple jewelry and simple shoes. This way, it would go great to wear to a party, or out to dinner. If you wanna dress it down a little bit, I prefer to wear it with flats or with cute tie up flat sandals.

I actually just went shopping and I happened to run into a cute dress just like the one I saw in the magazine at Forever 21. It's a cute little chiffon black dress with ruffles on the bottome. The top is embellished with little, black jewels and a black ribbon hanging on the side. Of course, I got it and I recently just wore it on my friends birthday. I accessorized this dress with silver heels to show off a little color; two, plain, thin, silver bangles; and a tiny silver clutch to match. I think that this shows a good example of keeping it simple so the dress can pop out. I know you can do that, too!

I also recently just found online an example of some cute dresses that I thought were just great! I think that you'll like them a lot! In face, I like them so much, I might just buy them for myself!

This dress is from Bebe. I think this dress is great because I just love how the jewels match the color of the dress, yet it still sticks out. This would look great with silver or black heels. Very cute!!

That cute, blue dress up top is from Forever 21. I love that dress because it strays away from black and gives it more color. Also, it just so happens that my "Elle" magazine says that blue is very "in" right now. So I think it's great that we can stray away from black dresses and move to color, especially since my closet consists of mostly black. Ha!

Luscious Red Lips

How many of you wear lipstick a lot? I use to wear it all the time but for some reason I got out of the habit. Just today I was doing my make-up for the day and decided to put on some lipstick. I realized it dramatically changed my look! It just made the whole look come together! It was great! So that’s what I wanted to write about today was lipstick.

But as always we want to be up on all the new and latest colors so I was doing some research to see what the newest lip color is. Well of course it's really a classic and always seems to come back into style, which would be the famous Red lipstick!

Red lipstick is so much fun! If you aren't use to wearing lipstick you might want to start with a more natural color before you jump right into the red. But...if you want to make a statement, start with the red and go from there. At first for me it was a little bit out of my comfort zone to wear the red lipstick but it was really fun and made me feel really pretty! I am just all about having fun so if that’s how you are too then go with the red lipstick and just have fun with it!

My Fashion Filosophy...and Styleology

Today I'm going to introduce you guys to a philosophy that I have been rigorously and painstackingly fine tunning for the past hmmm...about a week. Well, that's partly true. My perception of what is appealing has been developing my entire life and is continually updated. It is just recently that I began to ponder... Why? Why do people's ideas of what looks good differ so drastically. I've thought about it pretty hard and this is what I came up with... Although most guys and girls are similar (within their sex) in their definitions of whats "hot" and "not", the reason there are slight differences in perceptions is due to upbringing.

People's idea of what is fashionable and what looks good is primarily decided by their perception of what is stylish. This may be a quite confusing so I'll explain. First, here are some definitions...FASHION-a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc. And STYLE-a particular kind, sort, or type, as with reference to form, appearance, or character. The explanation- fashion is just what people as a whole are wearing, but style is all about what INDIVIDUALS think is cool. So a car example: Of all the exotic sport cars out there, I think the Aston Martin Vantage is the best looking (especially in white)...the reason I think this, while person B likes the Ferrari F430 (in red) is due to our differences in sense of style. I prefer sleek, smooth, simplicity, eccentrated by the elegant,pure, cut and clean look of the color white. While person B may steer more towards the flashy, sporty appearance of the red Ferrari.

In my view, a person's style comes out mostly in their choice of accessories, such as jewelry of any kind, earrings (i'm a guy, dont know how to spell that word) sunglasses, shoes, purses etc. Unfortunately style is being used to accessorize, or put a personal twist on fashion. It would be much better if fashion didn't exist at all, and people just wore clothes that they thought looked cool, thus making a person's sense of style much easier to see, and their personality easier to assess from a glance.

In an Ideal world, personality would effectively be displayed through what people choose to wear. A social and fashion norm would not exist and everyone would embrace, love and show off their individuality and unique sense of style. It is my personal goal, to observe what people are wearing, figure out what their personality is like, and then analyze how their clothing (down to certain articles of wear) reflects this personality. I aim to explain how a person is successfully displaying their personality through what they wear, and also inform on what may be confusing the message sent about their personality through thier clothing. Hopefully i can help some people out, but mostly I'm going to be developing my own science, trying to figure out how an individual's sense of style, creeps out through their fashion wear, and eludes to their personality. I call it STYLEOLOGY.

I know this is off topic but….have you ever gone outside on a sunny day and sneezed each time you walk outside? Well I do it all the time!!! I was watching the Saturday Early Show…or something like that and they said that it is called photic sneezing and happens when you are exposed to bright lights, especially sunlight! I thought this was so interesting because I always wondered why I sneezed every time I walked outside on a sunny day and if any of you guys do the same thing…..

So I have been pretty much following a theme this week…you guessed it: FLATS!!!! Maybe this is what I’ll do each week. Have some sort of theme and post about it all week…or maybe not. But I promise this is my last post about flats for awhile.

As you can tell, I have an obsession. I feel like it has grown over the past week since I post so many blogs about it! My other obsession is having my shoes match my shirt. I know, I know it sounds like every other fashion savvy person. But have you really taken the time to do this? I do it allll the time. Like when I wear brown flip flops with a brown shirt or my pink and white flats with a pink shirt. Pretty typical, right? Well I also love having matching accessories. Gold accessories and gold shoes with jeans and a green shirt…I promise it goes(at least the green shirt I have does). But what about when I have to wear my yellow and white striped tank top with my yellow and white striped flats? Or my red, white, and blue flats with a red tank top, white shirt, and blue jean skirt? This is what I’m talking about. My obsession. But I can’t stop. Every time I wear yellow(which is all the time now) I have to wear my yellow and white striped flats. It is probably getting old but I love it!

My new favorite color is yellow!!! (Also a new obsession). I almost picked up yellow nail polish the other day too, but I didn’t. I am absolutely in love with my yellow flats, as you know, but I need to be daring and not always match them with my shirt. The other day I was wearing a printed shirt that actually didn’t have yellow on it, with my yellow sweatshirt, and you guessed it, the yellow and white striped flats. At one point during the day I was wearing the flats without the sweatshirt, which meant there was no yellow to match the shoes. It kind of bothered me(haha) but I still think that the outfit was cute. By not always matching the shoes with the outfit completely, I think it makes your shoes pop even more. Especially if they are cute printed flats.

Bright accessories are definitely in right now. This includes yellow!!! You can follow this trend by wearing bright flats, or carrying a large, bold bag. I personally want an oversized yellow bag. But maybe I should wait until my yellow fetish is over. And I know we all could use some rain boots around campus!!! You can find these at Target. But I’m heading to the mall….finally!!!! And I’ll be back soon with something other than flats!!! But I’m sure I will say something about them sooner or later. I think next week will be bags…..

No Blisters!!!

So I just had to make a quick update...I wore the flats that usually kill my feet, but guess what?!?! I don't have any blisters!!! Okay so my feet didn't feel fabulous but it was definitely better than before.

So today I finally made my trip to Wally World (Wal-mart for those of you who don't know). I picked up a book to read because I used to love to read and decided I need to get back into it. I also picked up some gel cushions for my shoes. They are called KIWI Smiling Feet and I think they are going to help a lot! They were out of the heel liners so I got these mini cushions(pack of 4 for $3.97). This worked out perfectly because I put one in the heel of each shoe and then one over the big toe area, where it rubs sometimes. I could definitely tell a difference, but I have yet to wear them for an extended period of time. Hopefully now my feet won't kill every time I wear those flats.

Personally I thought that $4 was a pretty good deal to make my shoes more comfortable. They are clear so you can't see them and thin so they don't take up too much room. When I was buying them I had my doubts because they were so thin that I thought they would not do anything! But if I like these, I think I'm going to pick up some more..probably to put in the bottom of my stilettos!

Side Ponytails are back!

Remember back in like elementry school when everyone put there hair in the side ponytail?! I do and I feel like its really coming back! Although I'm not sure about putting it up right on top of my head. Personally, I like when its low and very sleek looking. I know that I talked about the side part inDont have time for your hair?! but this time putting your hair in just a ponytail. I seem to do this with my hair when I have about two mintues to put my hair up.

Yesterday I woke up late for work and I really didn't have time to put my hair up in my cute lil up-do. There was no 10 mins to spare! So...instead I pulled my hair over to the side but it didn't really look that good because I had this really ugly wave thingy going on. I kept the side ponytail idea but I braided my hair on the side. It took seriously 30 seconds and it looked really cute! Although I am usually pretty quick at braiding hair anyway.

This is not the actually picture of yesterday. But this is another time that I put my hair up this style.

If you have shorter bangs and they seem to fall out of the braid and you want them to swoop back easiers it also works if you put a head band on or just use a bobby pin to hold them back. To get this sleek look its great if you spray some hair spary on top of your hair to keep those stupid little fly-aways down. You know what I am talking about girls!

Just as a side note of side ponytails. In high school we would actually have days where all the girls would wear there hair on the side just for kicks and giggles! And many would put it hard core on the top of the head. But I never really thought that it looked that great. I think that low side ponytails are really coming back and they look so cute. I hope that you will go back to the elementry school days of side ponytails. Because I sure do and its so much fun!

I really just love to do my hair different and try to keep things fresh and new but of course I hate taking the time to make it look really good. But there are so many cute styles that are quick and easy! Since we live in this crazy busy world I will try to find quick new fun hairstyles for you girls. And if anyone has any suggestions on a new and different style let me know! I would love to hear about what you do with your hair! Have a wonderful day!

Dess Up Your Skinnies!

So I've ALWAYS had an obsession with jeans. I think I have more jeans than anything else in my closet as we speak. It is actually kind of starting to get pretty rediculous. But lately, I've become especially obsessed with skinny jeans. I've been just about devoted to skinny jeans ever since they first came out two years ago. I also just love the fact that they come out with so many different types such as long, short ones that are cut off at the ankles, colored ones, and super tight ones. Although, I'm not much of a fan for the colored ones, so the only skinny jeans close to color that I have are black. The possibilites are just endless and I think it is absolutely great that they make your legs look longer and leaner.

"What do I wear them with?", you ask. Well this is where I can help you. Lately I've been seeing so many people wearing them with a top that is just very unflattering. I see them in person and even in the magazines by some of the celebrities. REDICULOUS. Now first let's remember that no one wants saggy skinnies....no, no, no. So make sure that when you go out to buy yourself a pair, they snug well to your legs. Next, I say we balance the slim of the leg with a cute, flowy top. Now by flowy top, I don't mean super baggy, almost look like your drowning in your shirt, kinda top. I mean a cute, well-fit top. For example, if you look to your left, this top, from Anthropologie what I think a perfect example of a cute top that would look FABULOUS with any skinny jeans. I would prefer wearing this top with dark skinnies, or black skinnies and a really cute pear of black heels or even flats. To find tops to dress up your skinnies with, I prefer to check out Anthropologie, Forever 21, and Nordstrom. Those are just some of my favorites.

Now, if you choose to dress-down, I would prefer to dress down your skinnies with a cute loose hoodie like the "Boyfriend Hoodie" that Victoria's Secret sells. Or you can dress it down with a cute baby doll tank from Abercrombie & Fitch, which i know they have tooons of. You can also dress it down with layered wife-beater tanks and throw in a cute little blazer. Now for shoes, I reccomend flip flops or cute casual flats.

Now if you're looking for a good pear of skinny jeans, I reccomend for you to try out 7 For all Mankind, True Religion Jeans, and Abercrombie & Fitch. Those are my absolute favorites. But right now, I'm deffinately feeling the Abercrombie skinnies. The super dark wash, matches with EVERYTHING I have, and they can deffinately do the same for you.

Now that I shared with you my secret to wearing skinny jeans, I hope you try it out and I hope your outcome turns out as great as you want!!

New fun Nail style!

Ok so I have been sitting here trying to think of what to write for my post. As I sit here surfing the net I am typing and my thumb started to hurt. You see today was just one of those days where everything seems to be going wrong! It started out that I forgot my ID (which I needed for work) and then I am trying to run home to grab my ID well my keys are also attached to my ID!! Oh crap and my roomate definitly locked the door!! AH! What a bad deal! It all worked out but in the time that I was running around trying to get into my apartment I somehow hit my nail (acrlic nail) so hard on the door and kind of bent it back with my real nail. Its nothing serious but it defintly hurts really bad. I love my nails but man did that hurt!!

Anyway, on with my post I was surfing for fun new designs for my nails because it is almost time for my nails to be filled again. I found this fun new idea that I wanted to share with you.

Dont have time for your hair?!

Ok so I hate it when I just wear my hair up in a ponytail all the time but I still want it outta my face. Girls you know what I am talking about! Its so easy to just put up our hair in a ponytail and leave it! But its so orginal. We gotta spice it up a bit ladies! But.....who has time to make there hair look really cute n' fancy just for a normal day of school or work?! With my crazy class schedual and work and lord knows everything else, I definitly don't have time extra time to mess with my hair!

NO MORE WORRIES! I have a great updo for those crazy days when you just want to look really cute but have a small amount of time. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to do this which is not quite as quick as a ponytail but still pretty quick for how cute it looks! And all that you need are bobby pins! I use around 15 to 20 pins. (Depending on how thick your hair is)

First part your hair down the middle, take a small section on one side and twist it toward the back of the head. (corn row style) Do this all the way around to your ears. (As shown in picture below) Now take two fingers full of hair, twisting it up making the ends stick up behind the head. (But don’t make your hair stick up too much, might look kinda crazy then!) Pining up the rest of your hair that is down with this same process. Just go crazy with the bobby pins and don’t worry about it looking perfect! Its not really suppose to look perfect.

Also if your not really feeling the corn row type twists around the top of your head you could just pull half of your hair back w/ a small ponytail and then just pin it up as described above. And sometimes I will even put a headband on to pull it all together.

Possible Blister Preventer?

So as I mentioned in my previous blog(My Broke @$$), ballet flats are my new favorite thing! The only problem is that I usually end up getting blisters!! That’s why my sling back flats are my favorite…because they are the most comfortable!! So the blisters are probably from not having the right size. Yet, I fall in love with a pair and either one size is too big or the other is too small and there is no size in between!

So every once in awhile I look at those little comfort things you put in your shoes….and always wonder if they really work. So next time I go to Wal-mart I think I’m going to get some for my heels… I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hey, whats up? Rhetorical question....I know whats up.

Thats right, I know whats going on, or atleast what I care to know is going on. Such as, Halo 3 will be available in 16 days, 20 hours, 2 minutes, and 30 seconds from this exact moment. And counting. I also know for a FACT that i like women...SHOCKER! a male writer in a fashion blog whos sexual orientation is...straight, straight as an arrow. What else is going on you may be asking yourself...well thats a tough one, the news on Halo 3 drowns out most other thoughts in my non-complicated male mind. But what little useful information I can provide includes this, the world of fashion is perpetually changing.
Fashion is no where near stagnant, well, female fashion atleast, male fashion seems to hover around a norm, not steering too far to one exreme or the other. But fashion as a whole is much like a living, breathing organism, constantly changing and adapting to its environment to fit in, or possibly make a statement.
My presence in this blog, being the only male, is to simply provide my input. To observe and address fashion trends that are sweeping across the nation, and turning women into drones who just go with the flow...the fashion flow that is. Quick question...what deductive reasoning goes through a girls head when she decides what to wear, or not to, and how much of an impact do current trends have on this process. Well if I had to guess I would think that girls dress to impress, impress the opposite sex of course, what else could it be..."oh i just want to look nice and pretty today." Okay but for who? why? certainly not yourself. Hopefully you can like yourself no matter what you're wearing or what the occassion. Unfortunately girls like to critique what the other girls are wearing, but honestly, I, being a male, am not conerned with what the other girls think. And thus, why should you, being a girl (most likely), concern yourself with the opinion of other girls. If you are dressing to impress me, the typical male, what i think about what you are wearing should be the only thing that matters. Not to be conceited or anything.
But enough about what I think, what about me as a person. Well we've covered the fact that i am a typical, straight male. I like women, cars, video games, women, and of course new technology. Something new...well lets see. I am originally from San Diego, California. I was born and raised there, until the middle of seventh grade, when i moved to Carmel, Indiana. I now live in a residence hall (with no air conditioning) at Purdue University! I am not one of those typical male butt-heads though...pardon my french, dont worry i cant speak french fluently. I'm not tall by any definition of the term, and not a jock. I dont love football, or basketball, or baseball. I dont watch or play it. I have played soccer my entire life and never played on a school team. I love to wakeboard, inner-tube, go boating, swim, work out, paintball, Longboarding (its a long skateboard with bigger wheels, built for speed, not tricks), snowmobile, rough camping, not luxury camping, surf when i get the chance, and just kick it with the buds. The list goes on...
But about my fashion sense. Well despite living in Indiana for the past 5-6 years i have kept my layed back/skater California style, but i've also adopted some midwest trends such as wearing polos and collared shirts, occassionally. I try to go for the sleek, clean and cut look. Not too much going on, no fantabulous colors, or "bling-bling". And for the most part I would say my clothes accurately portrays my personality, layed back, relaxed, chill, fun loving, but with a hint of seriousness.

Hey it’s Jasmine! So I would say that I’m your typical college girl…love fashion, but broke as heck!!! Shoes are my favorite thing…I probably have more shoes than clothes to wear with them! I guess that’s how I ended up becoming the “accessory girl.” I think that you can make or break an outfit with accessories, but of course the only accessories I splurge on are shoes! I wish that I could afford lots of accessories because they are so cute, but remember…I’m in college. I work two jobs and stay far away from the mall so I can’t spend my money. Although I think I’m heading there in a few hours….

Flats are my new favorite thing!!! I bought like five pairs without even considering what I would wear with them…just because I thought they were cute!!! (This one was a pair I bought at Kohl's for like $18 and now they're $5!!!!) So I was wearing a black pair the other day and one of my guy friends commented on them!! Haha, come on Dumbfun, where’s your input?? I remember walking down the hall in high school and everyone would always comment how cute my flats were…let’s remember that this was only last spring…

So I was waiting to talk to my advisor today and found a Newsweek article about Steve Madden getting out of jail. It said that he has become a better person since being in jail. Well I’m glad that a celebrity has finally changed after being locked up. It also related the price increase on shoes to his absence. Well I think that prices have always been high, and still are. Yet, he’s shoes are still really cute. I would buy them, but I don’t know if I’m that willing to splurge on cute shoes! (I’ve probably done it before, but shh don’t tell!)

I think that my next splurge is going to be a pair of skinny jeans from Abercrombie. Are these still in style? I should talk to Chloe... I think that they look so cute with flats, but I don’t know if I could pull it off and by the time I get a pair they’re going to be out! So should I go get them or not? I might look at them tonight…

Now that my first post about fashion is in…I’m out to find the “in” fashion. Next time maybe I’ll tell you how much my feet hurt from wearing cute shoes out tonight….

MaryKay anyone?!

Hi everyone! Here is my first post ever! I'm so excited about it! Anyway, I just want you all to know that I am a MaryKay Beauty Consultant so if you want to buy anything just let me know and I can get it for you right away! Or if you want to have a class or even just a color consultation let me know and I can do it for ya!

First, I would like to tell you why I became a MaryKay Beauty Consultant. My sister just had a wedding last weekend which was pretty awesome it went perfect! (Well almost at least) Anyway, my sister had a skin care class for the bridesmaids, I had so much fun that night! The MaryKay Consultant, who is now my MaryKay 'Sister', was so much fun she had a ton of energy and excitement! The one thing that is the most fun about the classes is that you get to put on make-up and try new things. I have always loved make-up and I always will! During the class I was thinking about how much fun it would be to do this! Because she is not only having a blast with all the girls that she consults but she is also getting money out of the whole deal! This is amazing! I thought, this would be so cool if I could be a MaryKay beauty consultant! This is the true reason that I joined MaryKay. If anyone out there is interested I can hook you up!

But I also joined because I love the product! The day after the class I was in a hurry for my 7:30 math class! I had about 5 minutes to get ready! EEK! Well I didn’t have time to up the make-up on that morning but I did have time to grab a MaryKay Facial Wipe. So that’s what I did it took about 5 seconds and my face was clean! Not only was it quick and easy but it made my face so soft! As I was walking to class I brushed a hair away from my face, that’s when I felt how soft my face was! You know how sometimes when you feel something once it just feels so good you want to keep touching it, this is how it was! Haha! This is probably my favorite product so far! Quick, Easy, and works great!

My Stylish Life

HEY GUYS & GIRLS! My name's Chloe. As you all know, I am the go to girl when you need advice on fashion such as what's in, or how to pull off a look.

Now why clothes you ask? Well, for the longest time I have had a passion for fashion. I absolutely love clothes and I just love to find different looks that fit well for everyone. I love testing out colors, especially debating what colors to wear for the season. So it all makes sense, let me give you a little of my fashion background. I currently work at Abercrombie & Fitch as the title of "model". As a "model" not only do I wear the clothes that the store has to offer, but I also walk around the store and greet people, assist the managers in changing the mannequins, and help other people who need help deciding what to buy. When people ask me what to buy for themselves or for another person, I always try and help them put together an outfit. Working at Abercrombie & Fitch helped me open up to different kinds of colors and clothing and how to combine them to make them look good instead of clash. That's just about the experience I had with fashion, but it helped me so much because I had the experience with working with my managers, other coworkers, and let's face it...the mannequin.

Basically, clothes is not just a hobby to me, it's an art, a job...pretty much my everything. I think that with clothes, you can express who you are and even how your mood is on a certain day. Now, I'm not asking all of you guys to feel the same way I do about clothes, but after reading this and while reading my blog, I want all of you to have an understanding on what not only clothes, but what fashion is. I want you all to be able to feel good about yourself, and most importantly, look good. So I hope you have a great time reading this blog and I hope you can maybe give me some of your input too.

Everywhere you look there is fashion, good fashion -bad fashion, and we are here to tell YOU all about it. Yeah, you see it all the time, but there is so much more to it than just what is in style and what is not (although this is the main theme of our blog). How about to also show that one's personality is definitely portrayed by their own personal fashion? Watch others on the street and you can learn a lot about them based on what they are wearing.
Now you say, "Three girls, a guy, and a fashion blog...okay. Wait!? A guy?!" Yes, a guy and no he isn't gay, he's here to give his opinion on girl and guy fashion. After doing our research via magazines, internet, and other sources we will inform our fashion savvy readers (or unsavvy) about the current accessories, clothing, hair, and make-up trends for girls and guys. Maybe this will target the "middle fashion class" - those who don't overly care but put in some effort. We hope to reach all people within the "fashion spectrum" by making this blog something that everyone can relate to. Hopefully we can put up pictures that we find or take and make our own comments, suggestions, opinions, and add personal stories. As we look at others fashion sense, we may try to make sense of it! We hope our blog has the same personality as our fashion- upbeat, fun, and sassy!!
So as our blog takes shape, Chloe' will give her take on clothing. I'm sure she could rummage in her closet to find enough credible sources. But if not she would love to go shopping! MaryKay will tease up some information on hair styles and make-up. Being a MaryKay consultant will help her on these topics. Jasmine will bring new heights to shoes, bags, and other accessories. As the girls go crazy, Dumbfun will keep us in line, add comic relief, give us a guy's point of view, and bring us back down to the real world. As a group we will also cover the personal stories, fashion blunders, and look at the connection between fashion and personality traits. So keep a look out!!!
